Position Responsibilities
We are seeking an adjunct instructor to co-coordinate and teach an interactive and didactic course covering the topic of pharmacy ethics and equity in our Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) curriculum. PHAR 503: Ethics and Equity is a required1.5-credit lecture-based course during the Spring semester that introduces and addresses ethical dilemmas related to pharmacy practice and healthcare using a systematic approach. This course aims to evaluate viable options for resolving ethical dilemmas with the needs of patients and other key stakeholders in mind. The intersection of bioethics health equity and health disparities will be explored. Students will be expected to demonstrate conceptual understanding self-awareness and critical-thinking skills through a series of individual and small group assignments including reflective exercises and case-based discussions. This is an in-person course taught on the MCV campus with course content being delivered weekly. Responsibilities include adaptation of and presentation of course lecture and lab content use of Canvas as the course learning management system and grading.
Must possess M.S. or Ph.D. level education in ethics or a related field.
Practice and/or teaching experience in ethics or a related field.
Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect professionalism and civility with a population of faculty staff and students from various backgrounds and experiences or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
