Job Description

The Opportunity:

The Senior Virtual Workspace Engineer is a key member of a global IT team dedicated to delivering high-performance scalable and secure virtual workspace environments tailored to the needs of a modern distributed workforce. Reporting to the Manager of Digital Workspace Management the Senior Engineer manages backend systems and configurations including image creation policy management and application delivery also supporting digital workspace services. With a focus on operational excellence and collaboration the Senior Engineer works closely with global IT teams and the business to provide tailored solutions maintain reliable services drive improvements and ensure exceptional user experience. The role also provides guidance and mentorship to Engineer-level team members supporting their professional growth and fostering a culture of continuous learning.

What were looking for

Education: High school diploma required; associate or bachelors degree in information technology or related field strongly preferred.

Certification:

Relevant advanced technical certifications in virtual workspace or cloud infrastructure are highly desirable

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) technologies or cloud-based workspace platforms in a large-scale enterprise environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive hands-on experience (5 years) in designing configuring supporting and troubleshooting complex virtual desktop environments including advanced image management performance optimization and application delivery strategies.

  • In-depth knowledge of access policies profile management and automation frameworks in enterprise-scale virtual workspace deployments.

  • Proven expertise with backend systems that support virtual workspaces including identity providers endpoint management platforms and enterprise-grade monitoring and analytics tools.

  • Demonstrated success integrating virtual desktop solutions with enterprise IT ecosystems ensuring alignment with advanced security compliance and governance standards.

  • Strong understanding of IT security best-practices for virtual environments (e.g. multi-factor authentication conditional access session policy enforcement) and ability to guide security architecture decisions.

  • Advanced knowledge of identity and access management concepts (e.g. directory services single sign-on role-based access control) with experience in enterprise-scale implementations.

  • Experience with additional workspace delivery models such as remote application streaming hybrid desktop architecture and cloud-native endpoint management.

  • Proven leadership in problem-solving mentoring junior engineers driving cross-functional initiatives and collaborating effectively with global stakeholders.

Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of virtual desktop infrastructure and cloud workspace platforms.

  • Familiarity with virtual desktop management including image handling session control and access policies.

  • Awareness of endpoint security and compliance standards for virtual environments.

  • Basic knowledge of identity and access management integration.

Skills:

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills for virtual desktop systems and configurations.

  • Clear documentation and technical communication abilities.

  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with global IT teams and vendors.

  • Good organizational skills to manage multiple priorities efficiently.

Abilities:

  • Manage and optimize virtual workspace platforms in a global setting.

  • Translate business needs into technical configurations and policies.

  • Work independently while supporting team objectives.

  • Adapt to working across time zones and international support environments.

How will you thrive and create an impact:

  • Maintain and administer backend systems supporting Windows 365 and Amazon WorkSpaces virtual desktop environments including image lifecycle management configuration and platform policy administration.

  • Manage Amazon AppStream 2.0 application streaming services including fleet/stack configuration image updates and secure application delivery.

  • Use Microsoft Intune to manage Windows 365 Cloud PC policies security baselines compliance settings and updates.

  • Develop and enforce provisioning workflows access policies and usage standards to ensure secure efficient and compliant operations.

  • Ensure platforms remain optimized current and aligned with global standards and enterprise security requirements.

  • Support integration with related services such as identity providers endpoint management monitoring tools and licensing systems.

  • Monitor performance session health and user access; proactively identify and resolve issues for a seamless end-user experience.

  • Serve as a Tier 3 escalation point for complex virtual desktop or application streaming issues.

  • Document configurations deployment processes and technical standards for consistent and reliable operations.

  • Collaborate with global IT support teams and business stakeholders to align platform capabilities with service delivery requirements ensuring tailored solutions for business needs.

  • Research emerging technologies and automation to improve performance efficiency and user experience.

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with enterprise security policies data protection standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in or lead technical projects related to platform upgrades expansions and operational improvements.
