About the job

As the Service Data Governance Principal you will set and drive the strategic vision for Service Asset and Configuration including service data governance across the organization. This is a senior role responsible for shaping multi-year roadmaps that ensure the integration integrity value and business impact of our service data assetsincluding guiding our outsourced operation of the CMDB Application Portfolio (APM) Software Asset Management (SAM) and Service Portfolio.

You will act as the chief steward and advocate for service data influencing senior stakeholders building consensus and embedding a culture of data-driven decision-making. Your leadership will be pivotal in aligning data strategy with organizational goals driving continuous improvement and ensuring that data ownership and accountability are embedded at every level.

Job Goals

Strategic Leadership: Set and execute the vision and strategy for service data governance aligning with business objectives and technology transformation initiatives.

Vision for Data Integration: Develop and articulate a clear vision for how service data setsincluding CMDB APM SAM and Service Portfolioshould work in unison to deliver maximum value. Capture requirements from technology towers and other stakeholders ensuring that integration opportunities are identified and realised.

Roadmap Ownership: Devise and deliver the strategic roadmap for joining and integrating service data sets outlining key milestones dependencies and success criteria. Lead cross-functional teams to implement transformational initiatives that elevate data quality lifecycle management and compliance.

Data Stewardship: Establish and enforce accountability frameworks ensuring data owners take full responsibility for the accuracy currency and completeness of their data sets.

Data-Driven Improvement: Use analytics and performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement driving a culture of data excellence and continuous optimisation.

Stakeholder Influence: Act as a trusted advisor selling the importance of service data to senior leaders and stakeholders. Build consensus and drive adoption of best practices across the organisation including our outsourced Service Data operation teams.

Collaboration: Lead cross-functional teams and collaborate with Architecture Procurement Service Owners and other key partners to ensure consistent compliant and high-quality data.

Governance & Compliance: Ensure robust governance of key ITSM data sets (SACM/CMDB APM SAM AMDB) maintaining compliance and supporting risk management.

Reporting & Insights: Enable data-driven insights and reporting excellence to support decision-making cost optimization and risk reduction.

Ideal Skills & Capabilities

Proven experience in a senior data governance service management or IT leadership role ideally within a complex global organization.

Demonstrable track record of developing and delivering strategic roadmaps and transformational change.

Deep understanding of ITSM data structures especially CMDB APM SAM and Portfolio Management.

Experience establishing data ownership frameworks and driving accountability across diverse stakeholder groups.

Strong influencing and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to sell the value of data at executive level.

Expertise in data quality stewardship and governance best practices (e.g. ITIL).

Excellent analytical communication and leadership skills.

Experience in capturing requirements from multiple technology towers and translating them into integrated data strategies.

Key Performance Indicators

Delivery of strategic roadmap milestones including successful integration of service data sets.

Measurable improvements in data quality and governance maturity.

Increased stakeholder engagement and adoption of data governance practices.

Demonstrable business impact from data-driven initiatives.
