Location: Colorado Springs CO (United States Air Force Acacemy)
Type: Non-Exempt
Work Schedule: Full Time Day Shift
Compensation: $37.66 - $37.66 /hourly

Tessera is seeking a skilled and adaptable General Maintenance Mechanic (GMM) to support facility operations at USAFA. This dynamic role allows qualified tradespeople to perform multi-disciplinary tasks across carpentry plumbing electrical and HVAC systems. The GMM ensures safe efficient maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment while upholding high safety and performance standards.
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
- Perform multi-trade maintenance tasks including carpentry plumbing HVAC and electrical repairs
- Inspect and service mechanical systems such as boilers pumps motors and fixtures using hand and power tools
- Operate heavy equipment and rigging devices safely for facility upkeep and machinery handling
- Respond to emergency maintenance calls and assist with seasonal tasks like snow removal and landscaping
- Read technical manuals blueprints and schematics to complete repairs accurately and efficiently
- Use mobile devices for timekeeping work order tracking and inventory management
- Collaborate with other trades while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining professional conduct across all assignments
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in general maintenance or a skilled trade
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training in one or more trades preferred
- Must have experience as an electrician plumber/fitter carpenter or HVAC mechanic
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and operate heavy equipment safely
- Proficiency in reading technical documents and using digital work management tool
Physical Requirements:
Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.
- May be required to reach kneel walk stand and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
- Work may require repetitive motion reaching lifting kneeling and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time climbing in and out of a vehicle and up and down stairs may also be required.
- Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
Requirements:
- A valid state drivers license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tesseras insurance.
