Job Description

This is a traveling position and the candidate can reside anywhere in Southern California and use the nearest community as a home base.

Job Summary:

The Clinical Specialist will be assigned to various MBK Senior Living communities as determined by the VP of Clinical Services (VPCS) to provide coverage in the absence of a community Director of Health Services (DHS). While assigned to a specific community this position reports to that communitys Executive Director (ED) and serves as a liaison with hospital personnel physicians community organizations and other health-related service agencies to provide quality care to our assisted living residents. Additionally they are responsible for coordination of care with outside agencies communication with families and managing a clinical team. Developing plans of care personalized to the residents needs and communicated to the care team.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Hire train set performance goals and timelines monitor performance and provide coaching for the Health Services team.
  • Train assign and supervise Medication Technicians.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • 100% travel to and work in assigned communities within the MBK Senior Living portfolio for short- and long-term assignments of varying lengths.
  • Assess systems and compliance within assigned communities and work with the Executive Director or Regional Director of Operations to make corrections as needed to ensure compliance with policies and state regulations.
  • Conduct and coordinate assessments / evaluations of potential residents and make recommendations for admission in accordance with current rules regulations and community policies and procedures that govern resident assessment.
  • Conduct and/or approve routinely scheduled re-assessments and change of condition assessments in a timely manner.
  • Draft initial individualized Service Plans and update based on schedule and change of condition for residents and review with responsible parties and Executive Director.
  • Alert Executive Director Neighborhood Directors family members and others (as necessary) of any changes in residents physical or emotional health and institute interventions as appropriate.
  • Assess the communitys ability to meet resident needs under licensure and collaborate with the Executive Director on plans to retain the residents or move them to a higher level of care when necessary.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships and effective communication with families and service providers.
  • Perform all administrative duties accurately and timely including expense reporting submission of invoices team member evaluations etc.
  • Coordinate prescription orders with doctors offices as well as pharmacy delivery of medications including oversight of the central storage tracking and delivery of medications and ensuring the Medication Administration Records are completed according to company policy and State regulations.
  • Responsible for the overall health safety and wellness of residents.
  • Ensure that clinical and care related regulations and policies are closely monitored and followed.
  • Ensure that physician orders are carried out properly.
  • Aid in the community marketing effort through positive interactions acting as a liaison between the community and families/outside health service providers.
  • Key management member acting as Manager on Duty when necessary.
  • Collaborate with Department Directors on resident care and caregiver oversight.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Director of Health Services to ensure compliance with BMK policy and procedure and State Regulatory Guidelines.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff residents and guests following established safety standards policies and procedures.
  • Understand and comply with all Federal State and local regulations and all company policies and procedures concerning the department.
  • Promote and lead with a spirit of teamwork and open communication in accordance with the MBK principles and core values.
  • Manage labor and other expenses to align with community budget.
  • Perform other job duties or special projects as assigned/requested by the SVP Operations Executive Director or Regional Team.

Education Requirements:

  • College Degree required or equivalent work experience and license.
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing Human Services or Health Care field is highly desirable.
  • Licensed RN LPN or LVN is essential and must adhere to all requirements to have and maintain license including CEU completion and timely renewal.

Experience Requirements (in years):

  • 2 years of prior related work experience functioning in a similar healthcare management role within a similar industry/work environment is essential.
  • 2 years of prior management or supervisory experience required.

Required Competencies/Licenses/Certifications:

  • CPR Certification required.
  • Must complete Background clearances (as required by government regulations).
  • Must complete a health screening and provide negative TB test results (must be within the last 6 months or within 7 days of employment).
  • Valid class of drivers license required by state for vehicle/van(s) capacity and valid insurance or reliable method of transportation required.
  • Must have competent and current technical and computer skills.
  • Must have excellent communication skills including the ability to speak write and read English.
  • Must possess the ability to make sound independent decisions when circumstances warrant and to remain calm during stressful or emergency situations.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully and professionally at all times with personnel residents family members and guests.
  • Must possess strong organizational problem solving and time management skills.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Must be able to travel to assigned communities stay for extended periods to provide sales support and support a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends when business needs dictate.
  • Must be mobile and able to perform the physical requirements of the job including walking bending kneeling squatting reaching overhead and repetitive motion.
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday in the community and between divisions.
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to lift carry and pull up to 40 pounds and push up to 150 pounds.
  • Ability to assist in the physical movement of residents during routine transfers or in emergency situations.
  • Ability to travel within 50 miles of the community to perform assessments/evaluations.

Salary: $105000-$125000 Bonus
