The Settlement Review Associate Attorney Workers Compensation will manage all aspects of compromise & release agreements within the workers compensation practice area. This individual will play an essential role in supporting fellow attorneys improving workflow efficiency and ensuring that settlements are executed properly and in the clients best interest.
Key Responsibilities:
Drafting & Document Management
Prepare review and edit Compromise & Release agreements ensuring accuracy clarity and compliance with workers compensation laws and regulations.
Audit supporting materials (medical summaries payment histories MSA reports correspondence) to verify settlement figures and terms.
Ensure all documents meet WCAB and jurisdictional requirements prior to submission.
Maintain organized settlement files and ensure all required documentation is complete and updated.
Case Review & Analysis
Evaluate case facts to confirm settlement readiness and identify outstanding issues.
Analyze medical and indemnity exposure to ensure settlement terms align with case values and attorney strategy.
Identify inconsistencies discrepancies or issues that may impact settlement approval.
Communication & Coordination
Serve as the primary point of contact for internal teams regarding C&R-related matters.
Communicate with adjusters defense counsel doctors and other stakeholders to obtain missing information and resolve discrepancies.
Coordinate with attorneys to finalize terms and ensure settlement strategy is executed effectively.
WCAB Filing & Follow-Through
Prepare settlement packets and submit C&Rs to the WCAB for approval.
Track submissions and manage revisits rejections and judge-requested edits.
Follow up to ensure prompt approval and issuance of settlement payments.
Handle post-approval processes including confirming payment and closure tasks.
Quality Control & Compliance
Maintain working knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements in the workers compensation system.
Ensure submitted documents adhere to best practices legal standards and firm protocols.
Provide feedback and implement improvements for internal C&R workflows.

Qualifications :
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Active member of the California State Bar (in good standing).
13 years of legal experience; prior experience in workers compensation (applicant or defense) with strong familiarity in C&R processes is preferred.
Strong legal research analytical and writing skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage large volumes of documents efficiently.
Ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with fellow attorneys and staff.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and case management software.
High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently.
