Primary Purpose:
Under general supervision maintain repair and install electrical systems and equipment throughout the district. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all electrical fire intercom and special systems in district facilities.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High School diploma or GED
Valid Texas drivers license
Special Knowledge Skills:
Knowledge of electrical repairs maintenance and installation techniques
Knowledge of local electrical codes
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to perform mathematical calculations
Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
Ability to operate hand and power tools
Ability to work independently
Experience:
Three or more years of experience in electrical field preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintenance and Repair
- Install and repair wiring electrical fixtures power equipment and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code manuals specifications schematics and blueprints.
- Install and repair control and distribution apparatus including motors relays switches thermostats circuit-breaker panels etc.
- Install and connect power supply wiring cables conduit and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment in new and existing facilities following diagrams schematics or blue prints.
- Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits systems and equipment using testing instruments and equipment.
- Test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments.
- Measure cut bend thread assemble and install electrical conduit using rulers measuring devices hand tools pipe threader and conduit bender.
- Receive and complete work orders.
- Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.
- Maintain inventory of district-owned tools equipment and materials.
- Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
- Respond to emergency calls as needed.
- Assist fire marshal with fire department inspections and make necessary code corrections.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Safety
- Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting climbing etc.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
- Help keep vehicle and equipment in safe operating condition.
- Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required.
- Assist in training new maintenance employees in safe operating procedures as applied to electrical service repairs.

Multimeter ohmmeter oscilloscope and testing equipment; soldering iron; wire puller; pipe benders; hand and power tools; trencher jackhammer concrete saw ladder and light truck or van.
Working Conditions
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Continual walking and standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying; climbing stooping bending kneeling and reaching. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions around electrical power lines outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures. Position subject to call-out.
