What youll do

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Dean School of Health and Human Services. Based in Halifax you will build provincial partnerships with sector-based employers to ensure our programming meets industry needs and provides students with the most innovative challenging and applied education you can get in Nova Scotia and beyond. You will lead the development of the programming mix in the School which includes certificates diplomas continuing education and customized training; and you will ensure this programming keeps current and progressive in these dynamic fields. You will accomplish all of this by working collaboratively with internal community and government partners in a way that supports the Colleges strategic plan and priorities.

What you will be doing

We are looking for a Dean who will provide the overall vision and strategic leadership of the School. Specifically this encompasses the development of the programming mix supporting the colleges strategic plan and academic priorities; ensuring accountable decision-making; and setting and achieving School goals while identifying and enabling key relationships and partnerships across NSCC and throughout the unique communities we so proudly serve.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience

  • You hold a graduate degree or equivalent sum of relevant education and experience and you have at least ten years of relevant occupational experience in one or more of the sectors within the School and/or within a post-secondary environment specializing in one or more of these sectors.
  • You have recent experience in a senior leadership role within a complex organization leading a large high-functioning team and the ability to work effectively and build strong relationships within a complex matrix-based organization demonstrating comfort with ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage key relationships in the development of a vision and plan that incorporates a comprehensive and diverse range of programs and stakeholders as evidenced by a track record of inspiring and engaging diverse constituents in pursuit of a common mission and goals.
  • Known for your ability to forge powerful partnerships you have demonstrated ability to lead large initiatives working with educational community government and industry leaders.
  • You are able to influence facilitate negotiate and manage multiple stakeholders with various and sometimes conflicting interests to achieve a cohesive approach to program quality that meets organizational objectives and industry needs.
  • You are a creative and action-oriented leader with an equity mindset who demonstrates a passion for education and unstoppable commitment to learning and innovation. This allows you to inspire teams to do great things.
  • You possess demonstrated experience in analysis and preparation of complex data financial metrics and reporting to various levels of stakeholders.
  • High level of proficiency in a digital environment including the full Microsoft Office suite.
  • Demonstrated fiscal accountability with proven ability to effectively manage an operating budget.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of adult education.
  • Proven ability to develop College-wide processes that are in support of an equity-centred college.
  • Experience within a geographically distributed matrix model; as well as experience in a unionized environment will be assets.
  • Experience in a post-secondary environment with a focus on design and delivery excellence would be considered an asset.
