We are seeking a Health & Safety Construction Manager to ensure excellence in every aspect of our complex infrastructure projects and specifically in utilities (Transmission & Distribution). In this role you will lead health and safety programs guaranteeing compliance with industry standards client specifications and regulatory requirements. Your expertise will help us deliver projects that meet the highest standards of safety durability and performance.

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Conduct job safety analysis of construction projects and support project managers with safety compliance 
  • Develop project safety plans for construction projects and field visit safety plans to ensure all personnel safety during all stages of the project 
  • Deliver strategic and well-informed guidance to ensure successful project outcomes 
  • Review contractor safety management plans as part of Prime Contractor responsibilities 
  • Conduct investigations into incidents and produce reports with recommendations and corrective/preventative actions 
  • Develop and implement CIMAs program to manage prime contractor responsibilities for clients 
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of CIMA safety practices within projects aiming for industry best practices andalignmentwith client expectations including: 
    • Developingsafetyforms templates guides etc. 
    • Developingand delivering internal safety training content 
    • Performing risk assessments project safety plans Notice of Project submissions and WorkSafeBC liaison
  • Conduct Qualified Coordinator role on projects overseeing safety compliance and site coordination including safety meetings and site inspections 
  • Develop project specific emergency response plans and conduct regular drills 
  •  Conduct comprehensive workplace assessments to ensure that equipment supplies facilities and first aid attendants and equipment are adequate and appropriate for each project 
  • Maintain all project safety records to ensure compliance with regulations and client expectations 
  • Conduct site safety inspections and track corrective and preventative actions to closure 
  • Conduct safety performance measurement including both lagging and leading indicators and produce reports for stakeholders 

Qualifications :

  • Degree in occupational health and safety industrial hygiene or any relevant field 
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification 
  • Minimum ten (10) years experience in health and safety construction management in utility sectors preferably Transmission and Distribution projects 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience applying regulatory and safety requirements 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook) to support documentation analysis and communication 
  • Excellent communication skills in English in order to build relationships and manage multiple stakeholders and clients 
  • Strong leadership skills in order to build trust foster collaboration and create an inclusive environment where individuals feel valued and empowered to perform at their best 
  • Availability and flexibility to an on-site presence about 40-50% of the time 

The expected salary for this position is from $100000 to $130000 based on the richness and diversity of the candidates experience training skills and internal equity. The position or associated salary could vary depending on the profile of the candidate.
