You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Research Assistant is involved in conducting in vivo studies in the Jones laboratory that assess the pharmacologic activity of compounds developed by the Warren Center for Neuroscience Drug Discovery (WCNDD) at Vanderbilt University. The principal function of this position is to provide support for ongoing research efforts related to the development of novel treatments for neurological and psychiatric diseases. This position reports directly to the Principal Investigator.
Under supervision assists with in vivoevaluation of pharmacokinetic and behavioral effects of novel compounds in rodents
Performs in vivo neuropharmacology assays including rodent circadian rhythm studies.
Performs neuroanatomical studies including perfusions cutting of brains and histochemical/immunohistochemical staining on brain tissue
Maintains and genotypes colonies of genetically modified rodents
Maintains lab inventory
Maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment
Analyzes results using computer-aided data analysis software
Maintains accurate databases and experimental notebooks of results
Communicates results in a timely fashion to an integrated team of multidisciplinary scientists
Assists with general laboratory operation and inventory

Full-Time
