Job Description:

Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.

When you join Caterpillar yourejoining a global team who cares not just about the work we do but also about each other. We are the makers problem solvers and future world builders who are creating stronger more sustainable communities. We dontjust talk about progress and innovation here we make it happen with our customers where we work and live. Together we are building a better world so we can all enjoy living in it.

Role Definition

Performs installation and maintenance of equipment while ensuring safety and performance standards.

Responsibilities

**I. Equipment Inspection and Diagnosis**

1. **Visual Inspection**

- Conduct a thorough visual inspection of the exterior of the gas internal combustion engine generator set including the casing piping valves and connectors. Look for any obvious deformations cracks or leakage points. For example check for minor cracks in the gas piping that may result from corrosion or external forces which could lead to gas leaks and pose safety hazards.

- Examine the identification and labels on the equipment to ensure they are intact and legible including equipment nameplates and operational instruction labels. This ensures accurate equipment information for subsequent operations and repairs.

2. **Performance Parameter Monitoring**

- Utilize professional testing instruments such as multimeters oscilloscopes and pressure sensors to monitor key performance parameters of the generator set in real-time. These parameters include electrical parameters (voltage current power factor etc.) gas pressure lubricating oil pressure and coolant temperature. Compare these readings with the normal operating parameter ranges of the equipment to promptly detect any anomalies. For instance if the output voltage of the generator set is significantly lower than the rated value it may indicate a fault within the generator.

- Analyze the operational data records of the generator set such as running time start-stop frequency and fault alarm records. These data can help the engineer assess the equipments operational status trends and predict potential faults. For example if the generator set is frequently starting within a short period it may indicate issues with the control system or abnormal load fluctuations.

3. **Fault Diagnosis**

- Based on the inspection and monitoring results use professional knowledge and experience to accurately diagnose equipment faults. For common faults such as reduced power output due to insufficient gas supply quickly identify the root cause which could be a clogged gas pipe a malfunctioning gas pressure regulating valve or a problem with the gas supply source.

- Employ fault tree analysis and other methods to delve into complex faults. Start from potential causes of the fault (such as mechanical electrical or gas system issues) and systematically troubleshoot to determine the underlying cause. For example when a generator set fails to start properly sequentially check the battery charge level starter motor and gas supply system among other components.

**II. Repair Work**

1. **Mechanical Component Repair**

- Inspect and repair mechanical components of the gas internal combustion engine such as the crankshaft connecting rods and pistons. If severe wear is detected such as piston rings that have worn down and compromised cylinder sealing promptly replace the worn components. During replacement strictly follow the equipments technical requirements for assembly to ensure proper clearances and torques. For example when installing piston rings pay attention to their orientation and elasticity to ensure good sealing performance.

- Repair or replace components of the cooling system including the radiator cooling fan and coolant pipes. Ensure the cooling system functions properly to prevent engine overheating and damage. For instance clean the surface of the radiator to remove dust and debris and check for any blockages or leaks in the coolant pipes.

2. **Electrical System Repair**

- Examine electrical components of the generator set such as the generator starter motor and control cabinet. For the generator check the insulation of the windings. If the insulation resistance falls below the specified value it may indicate moisture or aging of the windings requiring drying or rewinding. Also check the excitation system of the generator to ensure stable power output.

- Repair or replace damaged electrical wiring including wires cables and connectors. During repairs ensure that electrical connections are correct and secure adhering to electrical safety standards. For example when replacing aged wiring select wires that meet the equipments voltage and current requirements and properly insulate the connections.

3. **Gas System Repair**

- Clean or replace gas filters to ensure the cleanliness of the gas supply. If the filter is clogged it can disrupt the gas supply and affect the performance of the generator set. At the same time check the integrity of the gas pipes and repair any detected leaks. For example use appropriate sealing materials to address leaks at pipe connections.

- Maintain the gas pressure regulating device to ensure the gas pressure remains within the appropriate range. If the pressure is too high or too low it can affect the combustion efficiency and operational stability of the gas internal combustion engine. Regularly check the sensitivity and accuracy of the regulating device and calibrate or replace it if necessary.

**III. Maintenance Work**

1. **Cleaning Maintenance**

- Regularly clean the gas internal combustion engine generator set removing dust oil stains and debris from the surface. Use specialized cleaning tools to clean dust accumulation inside the equipment. For example use compressed air to blow out dust from inside the generator to prevent it from affecting the equipments heat dissipation and operational performance.

- Clean the cooling system of the equipment including the coolant tank radiator and cooling fan. Regularly replace the coolant to ensure its cleanliness and anti-freeze and anti-corrosion properties. For example before the onset of winter check the freezing point of the coolant to ensure it meets local climatic conditions and add antifreeze if necessary.

2. **Lubrication Maintenance**

- In accordance with the equipment manual regularly change the lubricating oil and grease. Inspect the quality of the lubricating oil such as its color and viscosity. If the oil has deteriorated replace it promptly. Also check the lubrication system including the oil pump oil pipes and oil filter to ensure proper operation and smooth delivery of lubricating oil to all lubrication points.

- Lubricate the lubrication points of the equipment such as bearings and gears. During lubrication control the amount of lubricating grease to avoid over or under-lubrication. For example for rolling bearings determine the appropriate amount of lubricating grease based on the bearing size and rotational speed.

3. **Preventive Maintenance**

- Develop a preventive maintenance schedule based on the equipments operating hours and usage. For example after a certain number of operating hours conduct a comprehensive inspection and maintenance of the equipment including checking the tightness of fasteners and adjusting operational parameters. Regularly update the control system software and optimize parameters to improve the equipments operational efficiency and reliability.

**IV. Field Service and Communication**

1. **Field Service Response**

- Respond promptly to equipment failure reports and arrive at the site in a timely manner. Before arriving preliminarily assess the potential issues based on the failure report and prepare the necessary repair tools and spare parts. For example if the report indicates that the generator set fails to start prepare some common spare parts for the starting system such as the starting battery and starter motor.

- At the repair and maintenance site adhere to safety operating procedures to ensure the safety of oneself and others. Use repair tools correctly to avoid equipment damage or safety accidents due to improper operation.

2. **Customer Communication**

- Maintain good communication with customers to understand the equipments usage and their requirements. Explain the causes of equipment faults repair and maintenance plans and costs to the customers. For example after completing the repair provide a detailed explanation of the issues found during the repair process the replaced components and subsequent usage precautions.

- Collect customer feedback on equipment operation and repair and maintenance services. Timely improve work methods and service quality based on the feedback. Provide personalized repair and maintenance service suggestions according to the customers special needs.
