Job Summary

Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Job Location: Aurora IL
Job Type: Full-time
Overview: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of manufacturing equipment in a high-paced plastics production environment. This role focuses on preventive maintenance troubleshooting repair and continuous improvement to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of production machinery including mechanical electrical hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Troubleshoot and promptly respond to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
  • Perform repairs on machinery molds and tooling as required including machining milling and metal fabrication.
  • Manage and execute mold changes and preventive maintenance work on molds and auxiliary equipment.
  • Collaborate with production teams to develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and improvement initiatives.
  • Keep comprehensive records of maintenance repairs parts used and costs incurred according to departmental procedures.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals schematics and blueprints to guide diagnostics and repairs.
  • Recommend and support equipment/process improvements to enhance overall efficiency and productivity.
  • Maintain a clean safe and organized work area ensuring tools and equipment are in proper condition.
  • Perform other maintenance and facility support duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a maintenance technician ideally in plastics or related manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical electrical hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Proficient in diagnostics troubleshooting and repairs of industrial or plastics processing equipment.
  • Experience with plastics blow molding operations (injection and/or extrusion blow molding) required.
  • Ability to read/interpret technical manuals schematics and blueprints accurately.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving prioritization and multitasking abilities; excellent attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team.
