Job Summary

Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Job Location: Aurora IL
Job Type: Full-time

Overview: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of manufacturing equipment in a high-paced plastics production environment. This role focuses on preventive maintenance troubleshooting repair and continuous improvement to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of production machinery including mechanical electrical hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Troubleshoot and promptly respond to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
Perform repairs on machinery molds and tooling as required including machining milling and metal fabrication.
Manage and execute mold changes and preventive maintenance work on molds and auxiliary equipment.
Collaborate with production teams to develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and improvement initiatives.
Keep comprehensive records of maintenance repairs parts used and costs incurred according to departmental procedures.
Read and interpret technical manuals schematics and blueprints to guide diagnostics and repairs.
Recommend and support equipment/process improvements to enhance overall efficiency and productivity.
Maintain a clean safe and organized work area ensuring tools and equipment are in proper condition.
Perform other maintenance and facility support duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience as a maintenance technician ideally in plastics or related manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of mechanical electrical hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Proficient in diagnostics troubleshooting and repairs of industrial or plastics processing equipment.
Experience with plastics blow molding operations (injection and/or extrusion blow molding) required.
Ability to read/interpret technical manuals schematics and blueprints accurately.
Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus.
Strong problem-solving prioritization and multitasking abilities; excellent attention to detail.
Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team.
