Are you ready to shape the future of waste management in one of New Zealands most scenic communities Buller District Council is seeking an experienced and motivatedCoordinator Waste Managementto champion our regions solid waste recycling and minimisation programmes as part of our progressive Infrastructure Services team.

What Will You Do Ka aha koe

  • Oversee and coordinate daily operations of landfill transfer stations waste collection public refuse recycling and waste minimisation services across the district
  • Monitor and report on contractor performance ensuring value-for-money and high safety standards for all stakeholders
  • Guide and maintain the development of robust asset management and waste minimisation plans and ensure compliance with legislation and council policies
  • Provide technical expertise and advice to drive sustainable outcomes and continuous improvement
  • Engage with iwi regulatory agencies contractors community groups customers and internal teams to build strong constructive relationships
  • Lead and contribute to emergency response preparations and support the councils Civil Defence requirements as needed
  • Uphold Buller District Councils values in all aspects of work fostering a culture of collaboration learning and professional growth

Who Are You Ko wai koe

  • A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science Engineering Asset Management or a related technical field or significant equivalent industry experience
  • Well-developed knowledge of solid waste operational best practices including current treatment and disposal methods
  • Practical experience in contract management asset planning and regulatory compliance in solid waste or a similar infrastructure environment
  • Strong communication leadership and relationship-building skills with a focus on positive environmental and community outcomes
  • Computer literate especially in project and asset management software (e.g. MS Excel MS Project)
  • Able to demonstrate personal integrity problem-solving ability customer focus and the capacity to manage priorities in a dynamic setting
  • Holds a current drivers licence and the right to work in New Zealand
