St. Lukes HealthBrazosport Hospital is located on a beautiful 25-acre campus in Lake Jackson Texas. Offering state-of-the-art diagnostic and comprehensive treatment services our hospital is home to a 154-bed patient tower level III trauma center advanced cardiac care center and full-service multidisciplinary cancer center. Job Summary and Responsibilities
The PACU RN utilizes the nursing process to identify patient needs and priorities of care through assessment planning and delegation of care based on patient needs post-anesthesia and evaluation of the patients response. Is held accountable for policies and procedures of the department and organization. This position supports the mission vision and philosophy of CommonSpirit Health.
- Maintain a knowledge base regarding sedation/analgesic and anesthetic agents and techniques physiologic and physiological response to the recovering patient
- Assess plan intervention for and evaluate the physical and physiological response to analgesia; able to plan for the risks and the interventions for those risks associated with the administration of sedation analgesia and anesthetic agents
- Assesses patients health and continuously monitors; detect changes in symptoms health or pain and take action as necessary; and quickly and accurately assess patient care needs
- Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards policies procedures and protocol
- Collaborates with other care staff to assure smooth transition for patient throughout the facility using proper hand off techniques
- Administers medications IV therapy and treatments in compliance with policies and procedures
- Provides patient and family education
- Records all care information concisely accurately and completely in a timely manner in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms
- Orient and achieve competency from all areas of the Perioperative department
Job Requirements
- Associates Degree Nursing required
- At least one (1) year of recent acute care experience required
- Experience working in PACU preferred
- Registered Nurse in the State of Texas required
- American Heart BLS required
