The CVOR Registered Nurse provides specialized perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing cardiovascular surgical procedures. The RN supports surgeons throughout complex operative cases maintains sterile technique anticipates equipment and supply needs and ensures safe patient care during all phases of the cardiovascular surgical experience. This role requires strong clinical judgment technical competency and the ability to respond rapidly to emergent situations in the operating room.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide direct nursing care during cardiovascular surgical procedures following established CVOR standards.
Assist surgeons intraoperatively anticipating procedural steps and equipment needs.
Maintain accurate sterile technique and ensure proper setup and operation of CVOR equipment and instruments.
Coordinate patient preparation positioning and intraoperative monitoring.
Document operative care assessments and patient responses accurately in the medical record.
Communicate with surgeons anesthesia perfusion and OR teammates throughout procedures.
Support postoperative transition of care through effective handoff communication.
Participate in equipment checks room readiness and instrument troubleshooting.
Maintain compliance with infection control OR safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Participate in call and call-back duties as scheduled.
Perform other duties within scope as assigned.
Current and valid California RN License preferred.
Current BLS (AHA) certification.
Current ACLS (AHA) certification.
Minimum 3 years of CVOR experience required.
Previous acute care hospital experience required.
DaVinci XI experience preferred.
5 8-hour shifts Monday Friday (40 hours/week).
Shifts may vary between:

On-call required:
2 3 on-call days per week depending on experience and case volume.
Every other weekend on-call rotation.
Call-back as needed.
