POSITION SUMMARY
The Tax Manager is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely filing of income tax returns for Marriotts managed and holding entities across the Caribbean Mexico and Latin America (CALA). Reporting to the Senior Tax Manager in the Mexico office this role supports U.S. GAAP tax accounting and local GAAP for each country in the CALA region oversees income taxes and ensures compliance with CALA withholding tax regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES
Ensure that Marriott International (MI) is continuously revising and implementing the fiscal strategies to guarantee the correct operational flow in the entities and the good administration of taxes.
Have constant communication with the Senior Tax manager and Corporate Tax for alignment of tax criteria tax strategies confirmations tax implementations status communications new tax reforms etc.
Ensure that MI is paying federal and local taxes in the right way according to Tax Laws.
Ensure that MI is compliant in a timely and proper manner with the filing of tax returns.
Ensure the electronic documentation is updated with the new tax changes made every year by the local government.
Ensure the correct calculation of profit sharing dividends etc.
Follow up on external tax audits in order to comply with the process in a good manner.
Look for the best results in external tax audits through negotiations with tax authorities tax and constitutional litigations and choose the best consultants to do so.
Ensure that all transactions are evaluated in the best possible way for transfer pricing purposes every year.
Proper financials segmentation for transfer pricing obligations duly aligned with TP MI Master File.
Get in time the transfer pricing studies for supporting all transactions between related parties.
Ensure projections of taxes and deferred taxes for planning processes as Outlook and Budget.
Ensure financial compliance through the correct accounting registers of taxes every month and every year.
Ensure the support/advisory to other areas of MI when it is needed such as Payroll Customs Legal General Services among others.
Lead own teams and project teams to excellence to get the best results.
Improve the engagement of the team based on MI tax and Finance Vision.
Identify opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of business processes
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Experience
6 or more years of accounting and tax experience including substantial experience in U.S. and corporate tax matters
Experience with financial accounting for income taxes; strong working knowledge of ASC 740 (SFAS109 APB23 FIN18 FIN48)
Basic knowledge of tax laws in other Latin American jurisdictions desirable such as Argentina Brazil Chile and Aruba.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION
Bachelors degree in finance Accounting or related discipline required
CPA or MBA/ masters in taxation a plus
Oracle (Peoplesoft)
