What you will do:

You will help establish and maintain the SCDORs information technology (IT) internal auditing programs involving technical analysis appraisals recommendations professional counsel and other pertinent information to assist management in achieving the SCDORs mission.

Primary job duties include:

  • Establishing an IT internal auditing plan for the SCDOR
  • Identifying and analyzing causes of inefficient practices in the assigned area of responsibility and developing recommendations and alternatives which may yield desired results
  • Writing highly technical reports detailing findings and recommendations as a result of the audits performed
  • Maintaining knowledge of and interpreting internal auditing professional standards best practices and regulations for information technology and security and generally accepted accounting practices and best practices for business safeguarding assets etc.
  • Assisting with other audits and/or projects within the Internal Audit Division
  • Coordinating project activities with the Security and Technology Services Division as well as other divisions to secure programming computer time and other resources
  • Providing technical information systems assistance to fellow Internal Audit staff members and assisting with the coordination and performance of external audits and reporting
  • Assisting with the Internal Audit Divisions agency-wide Risk Assessment Audit Plan establishment and the annual review of the divisions policies and procedures manual

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Either:

  1. A bachelors degree and relevant experience OR
  2. Relevant experience or education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis with an approved equivalence by the Division of State Human Resources (DSHR)


Additional Requirements:

  • A valid drivers license
  • One of the following Certifications: CISA CIPP-US CIA or equivalent OR
  • Complete the training and receive a Certification in CISA CIPP-US CIA or equivalent within six months of employment with the Department of Revenue


Academic degrees must be from an accredited institution of higher learning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelors degree in business accounting information technology cyber security or other related fields including multiple accounting business information technology cyber security and/or finance courses and four years of internal and/or external information technology auditing experience including leading audits. OR
  • A masters degree in business accounting information technology cyber security other related fields including multiple accounting business information technology and/or finance courses and two years of internal and/or external information technology auditing experience including leading audits.

  • Hours: Flexible hours may be available from 7:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m. Monday Friday (37.5 hours per week).
  • Telework schedule: This position may be eligible to work remotely up to two days per week after one year of employment with SCDOR.
