Job Description

The Legal Document Processing Specialist provides advanced document processing services and general support creating a variety of documents and materials using advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products and other firm supported software.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Using word processing software and other technical applications to input edit format and spell-check documents.

  • Using more advanced features of software applications.

  • Assisting with more difficult and complex production assignments.

  • Training and mentoring of document production specialists.

  • Performing scanning clean-up and formatting of images for more advanced level projects; proofreading.

  • Responding to inquiries regarding status of projects; answering routine and complex questions regarding basic applications and department procedures.

  • Assisting the IT department in answering routine and complex document processing questions as received through the help desk.

REQUIRED EDUCATION KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 3-5 years experience working with and creating documents in a document production center or similar environment.

  • Legal background experience is a plus.

  • Certified as a Microsoft Certified Application Specialist (MCAS) with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook).

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proficiency with several of the following applications: ODSM Transcribing Software DocXtools Expert OmniPage 14 DealProof document production tracking software programs ServiceNow Adobe Best Authority and Litera ChangePro and other Litera products.

  • Experience processing pleading documents including generating Tables of Authorities is a plus.

  • Accurate and proficient typing skills (minimum of 75 words per minute preferred).

  • Ability to produce accurate work product with minimum revision.

  • Excellent proofreading skills and technical aptitude and willingness to learn new applications.

  • Ability to follow directions work under pressure and use good judgment to perform tasks under limited supervision.

  • Ability to analyze tasks to organize prioritize and handle multiple projects.

  • Ability to function in a high production environment.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills and flexibility to handle any tasks that are needed.

  • Maintain a flexible work schedule and work overtime as needed. Shift hour being Monday - Thursday from 7pm-6am.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
