Job Description

Hill Learning Center is seeking an in-person Director of Technology to play a critical role in advancing Hills mission by ensuring that technology effectively supports programs employees and the communities we serve. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer this leader will develop and oversee a comprehensive technology strategy that strengthens organizational capacity enhances program delivery and ensures secure reliable systems across Hill. The Director provides both strategic vision and hands-on management leading both the IT Support Specialist and Education Technology Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Manage and lead the technology team including the Education Technology Manager and the IT Support Specialist.
  • Develop and implement a technology roadmap that aligns with Hills strategic plan and mission.
  • Serve as a thought partner to program operations and leadership teams on the integration of technology to improve outcomes and efficiency.
  • Monitor emerging technologies and recommend innovations that advance access equity and program reach.
  • Support the Education Technology Manager with instructional and assistive technology in Student Programs using the latest tools and research as a guide.
  • Serve on the Strategic Steering Committee and the Board Artificial Intelligence Ad-Hoc Committee.

Systems and Infrastructure

  • Collaborate with the IT Support Specialist to maintain reliable and secure technology systems network infrastructure and access for employees students and guests.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators for IT services such as phones and AV equipment to increase reliability and dependability.
  • Identify and address technology and security gaps in infrastructure and projects by establishing needs and requirements at all stages of project implementation.
  • Perform regular network and data security audits using industry standards and tools.
  • Train and educate end-users and staff on existing technology tools processes and uses.

Team and Resource Management

  • Lead and mentor the technology team promoting a culture of collaboration service and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and manage the technology budgets.
  • Manage technology vendor relationships and contracts.
  • Ensure responsive high-quality technology support across the organization.
  • Provide training and professional development for employees to build confidence and skill in using technology.
  • Collaborate with program teams to identify and implement technology solutions that strengthen educational delivery and participant experience.

Culture and Community Building

  • Participate in team meetings activities and events as needed and participate regularly in Hill meetings events and committees.
  • Build collaborative working relationships across Hill while enhancing knowledge of all facets of the organization.
  • Advance Hill culture and core values and identify ways to contribute build community and support others beyond individual and team responsibilities.
  • Support community and culture-building activities via technical planning insight and support.
  • Engage in continuous personal and professional learning.

Desired Qualifications

  • 5 years of proven experience in technology leadership infrastructure management and strategic planning
  • Understanding of educational technology artificial intelligence and its application in learning environments
  • Excellent communication collaboration and problem-solving skills
  • Experience managing budgets and vendor relationships
  • Proven success in leading and managing technology teams and projects and aligning technology with mission impact
  • Mission-driven with a commitment to advancing educational equity and opportunity
  • Collaborative leader who listens well and builds trust across teams
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate big-picture goals into practical solutions
  • Service-oriented adaptable and innovative

In addition this position has the following requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities such as reaching bending stooping kneeling and operating basic tools
  • Ability to work for extended periods at a computer including the use of a keyboard mouse or trackpad to complete assigned tasks

Technology Environment at Hill Learning Center

Hill Learning Center maintains a robust and secure technology infrastructure that supports both administrative and instructional needs. The Director of Technology will assist in managing and maintaining the following systems and platforms:

  • Enterprise-grade firewall and threat prevention platform
  • Enterprise switching and wireless infrastructure
  • Device management solutions for Windows Apple and Chromebook end-user devices
  • Microsoft 365 suite including Outlook Teams SharePoint and OneDrive
  • Microsoft Teams based telephone system
  • Google Workspace tools for instructional and collaborative use
