The Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) is a not-for-profit organisation responsible for the training assessment and continuing professional development of emergency physicians as well as the advancement of professional standards in emergency medicine in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

Description

The Position

We have an exciting and engaging role to take on the leadership of our Indigenous Health Unit.

The role of Manager Indigenous Health is to lead the implementation and coordination of the Indigenous Health Unit. This includes but is not limited to:

Ensure effective implementation of the work of the Indigenous Health Committee Manaaki Mana Rp the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health in Emergency Care Strategy Group and Traumatology Talks Working Group including progressing meeting actions promulgation of progress reports on activity and project delivery.
Lead the design delivery and evaluation of ACEMs Indigenous health strategies and initiatives.
Provide leadership and direction in the design of ACEMs Reconciliation Action Plan.
Provide leadership guidance and support to staff working within the Indigenous health portfolio.
Drive projects and programs that support the Colleges commitment to health equity for Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander and Mori peoples.
Lead the coordination and effective functioning of the Indigenous Health Committee including meeting preparation (scheduling meetings coordinating agendas and meeting papers) reporting and follow-up actions.
Ensure governance processes reflect cultural safety inclusivity and alignment with ACEMs strategic objectives.
Build and sustain strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Mori stakeholders communities and partner organisations.
Promote cultural safety and awareness across ACEM supporting initiatives that strengthen organisational capability and staff confidence in this area.

Skills and Attributes

To be successful in this role you will have:

Deep understanding of and connection to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander or Mori cultures communities and health issues gained through lived experience and/or extensive work within these communities.
Relevant tertiary qualification in health social science or policy.
Demonstrated experience in project management within health public health or policy
In-depth understanding of the Australian and/or Aotearoa New Zealand health care systems particularly as they pertain to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and Mori.
Demonstrated experience in effective engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and/or Mori communities and/or organisations.
Proven Experience in managing high performing teams.
Excellent planning time management and organisational skills
Excellent written communication skills including the ability to write policies reports guidelines and process documents.
Exceptional content analysis and syntheses skills that draw on published research from a range of disciplines (clinical sciences health economics etc.) to inform policy and advocacy activities.
Demonstrated high-level consultation skills including the ability to identify and liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders to inform organisational outcomes.
Strong initiative and self-motivation the ability to work effectively in a team as well as autonomously.
Proven ability to work in a flexible and evolving environment and coordinate competing activities to achieve organisational outcomes.
