Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the success of a major research programme at the Liggins institute. As Senior Human Health Research Coordinator youll have a leading role in a multi-component initiative that requires leadership operational oversight and a commitment to excellence.

Your primary responsibility will be to initiate and coordinate two research studies nested within a broader research programme while supporting integration across all components. This will involve managing operational aspects such as ethics submissions planning and stakeholder engagement to ensure milestones are achieved within agreed timeframes and budgets. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining study protocols ethics applications and reports data and tissue management plans and other study documentation; monitoring compliance and ethical standards; and preparing formal reports for funders and other relevant stakeholders as required.

Youll facilitate effective communication across diverse teams including Principal Investigators research staff and external partners and manage relationships with clinicians Te Whatu Ora and research participants. You may also assist with participant recruitment and engagement activities to support study delivery. Additionally you will oversee data integrity by monitoring study data and conducting audits as required.

As a senior coordinator you will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives mentor other research staff within the team and foster a collaborative inclusive research culture. You may also assist with recruitment and training of research staff. This position requires strong organisational skills the ability to work independently and confidence in making informed decisions to keep a complex project on track.

This is a part-time (15h - 30h per week) fixed term (12 months) position.

The salary range for this role is $78601$90700 (pro-rated) depending on skills and experience.

You will be part of a dedicated team of Human Health Research Coordinators within the Human Health Research Services Platform. The team supports a range of research groups across the Institute providing coordination and operational expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality human health research outcomes.

Youll be someone who thrives in a leadership role within a collaborative research environment. You bring a proactive detail-oriented approach to research coordination and have a strong foundation in managing complex studies. Youre confident mentoring others and navigating regulatory frameworks with professionalism and integrity.

To be successful in this role you will have:

Essential

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. nursing public health allied health health/medical sciences)
  • At least 46 years experience in human health research including managing multiple studies
  • Strong understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and research ethics
  • Familiarity with REDCap or similar electronic data capture systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong foundation in scientific writing and documentation
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience managing research data and a good understanding of data management practices

Preferred:

  • Project management or human health-related research certification
  • Leadership experience in a multidisciplinary team
  • Direct experience working with research participants
  • Knowledge of New Zealand regulatory requirements
  • Experience managing investigational or research-use-only products
