Climbing Ed/Outdoor Adventure Coord.
Duties & Responsibilities:
All positions in RHS are designated as critical the event of a university closure modification or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency conditions you will be expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If you have an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of your normally scheduled work hours remotely you may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community. If you have a permanent on-going and/or pervasive condition that may impede your ability to work on-site please contact the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities (RCPD) at Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to a four-year college degree such as a Bachelors degree in Business Administration Parks & Recreation Sports Management Kinesiology Exercise Science Health & Physical Education; one to three years experience overseeing Outdoor/Adventure Recreation programs such as supervision of a rock-climbing wall or outdoor equipment rental program; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Climbing Wall Instructor certification thru Climbing Wall Association (CWA) or Alaska Mountain Guides & Climbing School (AMG) certification; Route setting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Comprehensive and detailed knowledge of Adventure Recreation Climbing Walls Bouldering or other related outdoor adventure activities; Route setting certification through CWA or USA Climbing; experience with adaptive climbing programs; previous experience developing and facilitating team building leadership or experiential programs; Wilderness First Responder Certification; American Canoe Association (ACA) Wilderness Medical Associates International First Aide or Associate for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) Level I or Level II Certification. Comfortable working with membership systems and the Microsoft suite. Ability to keep detailed logs of equipment.
