AtRonald McDonald House Charities British Columbia and Yukon (RMH BC) weenvision a province where families stay close to their sick children. Today 2out of 3 Canadians live in a city or town without a childrens hospital. OurMission is to give sick children the healing power of being together withfamily.
Asa champion of family-centered care we enable access to childrens hospitals byproviding families with sick children accommodation meals and wellnessprograms that support their emotional and physical well-being.
In1983 the first RMH BC House opened its doors in Vancouver with a 13-BedroomHouse and over the years with an increase in demand for this essentialservice construction of a new building was 2014 a 73-bedroomHouse was unveiled on the grounds of BC Childrens Hospital along with a new2000 sq. ft. RMH Family Room in Surrey Memorial Hospital. As thesecond-largest House in Canada and one of the largest in the world RMH BC willcontinue to grow and meet the needs of families across BC and Yukon.
Ourteam is the backbone of our organizationserving our families supportingvolunteers and donors and spreading awareness every single day.
About the Position
The Seasonal ProgramAssociate works collaboratively within the Family Services team to support the deliveryof in-house seasonal program and food services. This role works directly withRMH staff volunteers and families which require the ability to interact in athoughtful energized and forward-thinking manner.
This is afull-time temporary position from October to January typically working Tuesday Saturday evenings will be required. Please note this position requires open availability throughthe month of December as it is our busiest program month.
Key responsibilitiesinclude:
ProgramSupport
- Work with ManagerPrograms to coordinate wellness programs activities and workshops.
- Facilitateseasonal in-house events and celebrations.
- Supportfacilitators by setting up/taking down program space orderingsupplies/materials and confirming participants.
- Help toorganize and maintain shared areas and supply rooms.
- Be availableto on-site facilitators and present during programs and activities.
- Able toparticipate in out trips with families.
- Work withvolunteers family meals and development teams to create consistency in ourservice delivery to families.
Food Program
- Work alongsideour Chef and Food Services Team to execute family meals.
- Assist infood-based activities and services including grab n go freezer mealsLunch2Go snacks from scratch baking celebration meals etc.
- Receivingfood and kitchen supplies.
- Monitor andtrack food inventory and kitchen equipment.
- Help set upand tear down food service areas for events programs or meal services.
- Assist withdishwashing sanitizing surfaces and proper waste disposal.
- Other dutiesas assigned.
Administration
- Update postand maintain records of programs schedule and sign-up sheets.
- Support communication to the House includingmaintaining signage

- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meettimelines
- Organized and solution oriented
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule thatincludes evenings weekends and some holidays to meet the needs of theorganization in supporting families
- Experience working with children youth and families an asset
- FoodsafeLevel 1 CPR/First Aid and Mental Health First Aid an asset
