Job Summary

The Human Resources Generalist provides executive-level leadership and guidance to the organizations HR operations. The Generalist is responsible for setting enforcing and evaluating legally compliant human resources policies procedures and best practices and identifying and implementing long-range strategic talent management goals.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with executive leadership to define the organizations long-term mission and identifies ways to support this mission through talent management.
  • Identifies key performance indicators for the organizations human resource and talent management functions; assesses the organizations success and market competitiveness based on these metrics.
  • Provides guidance and leadership to the human resource management team; assists with resolving human resource compensation and benefits questions concerns and issues.
  • Ensures compliance with employment benefits insurance safety and other laws regulations and requirements.
  • Maintains knowledge of laws regulations and best practices in employment law human resources and talent management.
  • Participates in professional development and networking conferences and events.
  • Administer all human resource programs including but not limited to:
    1. Employee Relations
      • Provides employee relations guidance to employees and management
      • Participates in the investigation and resolution of employee relations issues
      • Flexibility to work various schedules to be available to employees on all shifts
      • Consistently and fairly applies company disciplinary standards
      • Works with supervisors/managers to apply and document any disciplinary actions.
      • Coordinates bulletin board and supports employee communications
      • Helps support initiatives as an outcome of employee feedback (including continuous improvement ideas and employee surveys)
      • Supports employee development through training system and other training as needed
    2. Recruiting Hiring On-Boarding and Terminations
      • Recruits through direct hires agencies staffing services online advertising etc.
      • Screens potential employees and sets up interview schedules
      • Performs orientations and coordinates initial training for new employees
      • Exit interviews COBRA administration and employee records updates upon termination
    3. Compensation Administration
      • Researches market compensation trends to keep the companys compensation and incentive programs competitive with the market.
      • Accurately maintains HR & Payroll records in the HR System.
      • Tracks attendance infractions Attendance Bonus and issues disciplinary actions
      • Liaison to supervisors for accurate use of time & attendance system
      • Maintains/develops job descriptions and assigns labor grades
      • Initiates and monitors annual performance appraisal process for employees
      • Periodically reviews labor grade classification and compensation levels
      • Handles hourly weekly payroll & check distribution
    4. Benefits administration
      • Researches develops and implements competitive benefits programs.
      • Educates and enrolls employees in company benefits programs.
      • Acts as liaison between employees and insurance administrators.
      • Spearheads various wellness initiatives.
      • Administers uniform rental program
    5. Compliance
      • Ensures compliance with state and federal laws regulations
      • Updates HR policies and procedures as needed to comply with new laws and regulations
      • Maintains employment records to conform with federal and state laws
      • Responsible for government compliance reporting EEO-1 OSHA 301 etc.
      • Responds to unemployment claims
      • Administers FMLA ADA and STD among other leaves of absence.
    6. Safety
      • In conjunction with the Safety Manager ensures work-related injuries are timely and adequately submitted to Workers Compensation insurance.
      • Annual hearing test coordination
      • Other Office and Administrative Support
      • Parties picnics and other employee events
      • Backup to Front Office personnel
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS system.

Education and Experiences

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or related field required; Masters degree preferred.
  • At least seven years of human resource management experience are required.
  • Human Resources credentials (SPHR or SHRM-SCP) or the ability to obtain certification within one year of employment.
  • Experience handling Labor law matters OSHA requirements and ACA requirements.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices organizational diagnosis employee and union relations diversity performance management and federal and state respective employment laws.
