Northwestern State University is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Police Sergeant.

Were looking for a dedicated Police Sergeant to join our team who is ready to protect and serve with courage and this role youll provide the full range of police services including but not limited to enforcing laws investigating crimes and accidents responding to emergencies and supervising lower-level Police Officers. Three years of law enforcement experience.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. The maximum substitution allowed is 60 semester hours which substitutes for two years of experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of a current Louisiana drivers license.
Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required.
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

Job Duties:
Serves as supervisor over assigned shift.
Protects lives and property through active foot and mobile patrols enforcing laws and investigating crimes.
Oversees and evaluates the performance of lower-level officers on an assigned shift.
Conducts roll call and officer vehicle and equipment inspections.
Performs all the duties required of lower-level officers as necessary. Provides first aid and emergency services. Investigates accidents enforces parking and traffic regulations and campus regulations.
Provide services for events on campus. Issue citations as needed.
Conducts crime prevention and security programs guard service and directs traffic. Operates police network computers and dispatches police officers in response to calls.

Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional
Work Schedule: Work hours are 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. You will work rotating 12-hour shifts with rotating days off.
Compensation:The Police Sergeant offers a Special Entrance Rate of $24.35 per hour.This is the minimum compensation that may be offered. The job title and salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
