BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
WFP has been delivering food assistance to the most remote and insecure regions of the world for nearly 60 years
- during which time WFP developed its supply chain capabilities to support its goals of eradicating hunger and malnutrition. This expertise in humanitarian supply chain is widely recognized both internally and externally as the backbone of WFP food operations and it has led to the rise of WFP-provided common services.
Under the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDG 17:16) and broader UN reforms focused on shared services such activities provide WFP with flagship opportunities to represent WFPs commitment to these global efforts.
In light of the growth of WFPs portfolio of supply chain services to the humanitarian community and against a backdrop of unprecedented humanitarian emergencies WFP Supply Chain Division has established an augmented and structured Logistics Common Services function to fulfil the demands of WFPs service provision to partners.
The On-demand Service Provision unit will seek to develop a stronger knowledge base and a repository for information from the respective projects. The unit also requires analysis of the global performance of this portfolio of work through a data led approach to interpret trends through the development of supply chain visuals and other products. This is to complement ongoing divisional and corporate initiatives including communication outreach. The incumbent will work as a data analyst. The individual is expected to exercise a high degree of independence and be a self-starter on new initiatives. The incumbent will manage the day-to-day data requirements information management activities and develop and implement an information management strategy for the global portfolio. This will include internal and external reports strategic service case studies design donor presentations and support the global knowledge capture of the workstream across 40 offices. The Data Analyst and IM officer will have responsibility on corporate reporting for the entire ODS portfolio equivalent to $131m in service revenues across 42 countries on behalf of over 159 partners in 2023.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working under the guidance and supervision of On-demand Service Provision Operations team lead the incumbent will:
Lead the collection cleaning and analysis of data and consolidate inputs for submission to any divisional and corporate reporting donor reporting or other exercises.
Define evaluate and analyze service provision data and visualize data for presentations with management and external parties.
Support the analysis and evaluation of project performance of strategic accounts with project managers and support to identify challenges opportunities and threats.
Manage the Service Market Place (SMP) client relationship monitor requests on the platform and analyze service requests data as required.
Oversight to ensure OIM & PR procedures and templates are followed to drive the quality consistency and standardization of information management and performance reporting across On-demand Services (ODS) teams.
Manage relevant information management focal points in different countries to establish a common repository of information statics and data for each project and for ODS as a whole; internal and external information sharing mechanisms and systems; documentation formats assessment formats central file store operations archive reporting systems.
Responsible for ensuring that accurate consistent information in line with corporate standards requirements and templates is made available on different platforms through focused communications materials and in standardized and/or ad-hoc reports.
Produce high quality accurate timely clear and consistent information products both external and internal related to WFPs on-demand service provision to enable informed decision-making and disseminate them through the appropriate channels. This will include senior level IM products for leading organizations such as the World Bank Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation WHO IOM and others.
Prepare briefing materials including talking points standard and ad-hoc presentations for senior management to provide timely updates on Bilateral Service Provision.
Build and maintain effective relationships and collaborations with key stakeholders ensuring regular communication.
Support the development of new IM products and support the improvement of existing ones to enhance communications information sharing coordination.
Contribute to the development of systems and tools that support effective information management performance reporting and inter-agency information management in line with WFP and UN policies and practices.
Recognize and assess the sensitivity of information obtained; Respect the confidential nature of sources of information where relevant.
Must be willing to deploy to field operations as necessary.
DELIVERABLES:
Lead the analysis of the performance of the ODS workstream and creation of relevant dashboards to communicate clear and concise messaging.
Support the evolution and visualization of the global on-demand service provision portfolio with relevant products and trend analysis.
Create strategic biannual reports for high-profile projects for the World Bank WHO Bill &
Melinda Gates Foundation UNFPA etc.
Develop global reports for internal stakeholders such as COs RBX Leadership Group regarding the performance of the global workstream.
Support the ODS lead with new initiatives focusing on UN reform through guidance and other IM documents related to the local and Global shared service centers.
Lead the collection of financial and operational data across 70 countries for corporate reporting.
Support the ODS lead in writing ODS proposals and engage with other HQ units CO (including Country Directors and Regional Directors).
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of five or more years of relevant professional work experience in information management and data roles and interest in international humanitarian development; experience with reporting as well as cluster experience is highly desirable. Previous experience in emergencies is important. Knowledge of supply chain and experience in health is an advantage.
EDUCATION:
Advanced University degree in Political Science Economics Statistics Information Management or Journalism Business Management Social Sciences or other relevant field or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Key skills: Excellent written and verbal communications skills including report writing and analytic skills; high attention to detail and proofreading ability; ability to set-up systems; ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure as part of a team; good communication skills; ability to work independently while asking questions and seeking support in a fast-paced work environment. Understanding the fundamentals of budgets and fund management is highly desirable.
Technical skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and other data visualization tools like Power BI and Tableau. Demonstrated ability in data acquisition and analysis.

LANGUAGES:
Fluency in English and working knowledge of a second UN language will be considered as an advantage.
