Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Stores Controller to oversee and manage inventory stock movements and store operations. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records while ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of the stores.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Negotiable.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain optimal stock levels of consumables spares tools and materials.
  • Carry out quarterly and full end of year annual stock counts reconciliations and variance investigations.
  • Implement and monitor inventory control systems to reduce stock losses obsolescence and pilferage.
  • Ensure accurate receiving inspection and recording of all incoming goods.
  • Verify quantities and quality against purchase orders and delivery notes.
  • Issue materials to end users against approved requisitions.
  • Maintain up-to-date stock cards GRVs (Goods Received Vouchers) and bin cards.
  • Ensure all movements (receipts transfers issues and returns) are properly recorded.
  • Generate regular inventory reports for management.
  • Enforce adherence to company policies standard operating procedures (SOPs) and industry regulations.
  • Ensure safe storage labelling and handling of hazardous materials explosives and flammable goods.
  • Promote good housekeeping safety and security in the stores.
  • Use ERP or computerized inventory systems (Build Smart) to track inventory transactions.
  • Monitor reorder levels and communicate stock requirements to procurement.
  • Participate in audits and provide supporting documents as required.
  • Supervise stores clerks assistants and general hands.
  • Liaise with procurement engineering finance and operations departments to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Train and guide staff on inventory procedures and systems.

  • Strong organisational and record-keeping abilities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel in particular).
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in managing stock.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to adapt quickly.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain Management Stores Management Logistics or related field.
  • At least 3 5 years experience in stores/inventory management preferably in mining or construction.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office ERP systems).
  • Knowledge of mining consumables machinery spares and construction materials is a distinct advantage.
