Wesley Manor Retirement Community is currently seeking a friendly and dedicated part-time Relief Cook to join our team. As a Cook you will play a crucial role in ensuring our senior residents have a positive dining experience. Your responsibilities will include assisting with meal preparation serving meals and providing excellent customer service to our residents. Responsibilities: - Prepares meals and supplements for facility residents; ensures that all aspects of the food service operation comply with applicable regulations requirements and standards and follow the approved menu schedule provided by a licensed dietitian.
- Assists in planning and implementing menus that comply with all applicable regulations requirements and standards and provides and posts advanced notification to the Director and Residents of all menu substitutions.
- Manages inventory and ordering of food and food prep equipment to ensure adequate supply and timely preparation of meals and supplements; Networks with local food banks and related community resources.
- Maintains sanitary and safety standards and cleanliness of the kitchen serving and prep areas and related equipment dishes and utensils.
- Maintains required written records regarding the food service operation.
- Statement of Work and Physical Plant and Operations Manuals to include but not limited to Emergency Drills Life Safety Facility Sanitation and Escape and Unusual Occurrence Procedures.
- In the event of a work stoppage work the hours necessary to staff the center; Attends and participates in all required appointments/meetings on site within the community the court system or at other business related location.
- Provides assistance in supervising the food service department employees and provides leadership to the same. Similarly accepts responsibility for having the department run correctly and having the department schedule satisfied.
- Inspect meals and assure that standards for appearance palatability temperature and serving times are met by assisting in developing methods for determining the quality and quantity of food served and taking responsibility for implementing the same.
- Upholds inventory by ordering food according to budget and menu.
Plans staff schedules for food preparation serving and clean up. Similarly always takes responsibility to ensure adequate staffing including but not limited to unexpected employee call-ins (i.e. sick days or otherwise excusable or otherwise).
Qualifications: - High School Diploma or GED
- 1-3 years of experience
- Candidate must have demonstrated ability to cook
- Demonstrated ability to cook organize and manage a food service operation within the budgetary guidelines outlined by the organization
