About Alternative Family Services Alternative Family Services is a Foster Family Adoption and Mental Health Agency that has been serving abused and neglected children in our community since 1973. Our mission is to support vulnerable children and families in need of stability safety and well-being in communities. We provide a wide range of foster adoption mental health and transition-aged youth services in English and Spanish. We have eight locations throughout the Bay Area and over 225 employees. Responsibilities - Responsible for the quality improvement aspects of the program including knowing rules and regulations and implementing procedures to assure compliance with Medi-Cal and other regulations
- Responsible for the clinical direction of the program including signing progress notes and treatment plans and assuring that services provided are appropriate given client need. Clinical Supervisor will work with staff to improve writing and documentation skills as needed
- Responsible for working part-time as a Mental Health Worker carrying a caseload and taking over cases when another worker has been terminated is on vacation or is in any other way not available
- Participate in quality assurance responsibilities and tasks as assigned by the Mental Health Director
- Assist as directed by the Mental Health Director in the overall operation and services delivered by the program including the development implementation and evaluation of all mental health programs staff training programs casework educational and vocational resources and coordination with outside agencies
Needed Upon Hire - Licensed clinician with the State of California
- 2 years of clinical work post-licensure preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of Medi-Cal Mental Health Services and the policies/procedures of each of our contract counties
- Must be able to work effectively with county representatives to build trust and advocate for the agency
- A background in social services and non-profit organizations helpful
- Experience with or willingness to learn agency philosophy and community standards as they apply to post-adoption emancipation and reunification services is essential
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel internet email and databases
- Obtain and maintain fingerprint and government and Agency required background clearances
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Able to drive and transport children into a variety of community settings using a personal vehicle that is maintained in safe working order
- Valid California drivers license with an acceptable driving record and auto insurance showing as an insured driver on the policy
- Possess a high level of integrity honesty and strong work ethic
- Able to read and write fluently in English
- Able to clearly communicate verbally and in writing
- Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form
- Possess and agree to continue to work on cultural competency as it relates to the diverse client population served
- Able to maintain a professional demeanor in a stressful environment
- Able to interact calmly and professionally with clients who may act out due to behavioral disabilities
- Able to interact with co-workers county representatives and other treatment team members as part of a cooperative team
- Able to work with minimal direct supervision and manage time and prioritize workload
- Excellent organizational and detail skills
