Intern - Engineer

Berry Corporation (bry) has an opening for an Intern Engineer in our Bakersfield California location who will work within the asset teams in cross-functional groups focusing on developing knowledge skills and abilities as an Engineer specializing in mature petroleum oil and gas fields and production systems. This is a project-based internship reporting to the Engineering Manager working directly with more experienced engineers and management. The intern will work full-time Monday through Thursday (9 hours) and every other Friday (8 hours) from May through August. Key Accountabilities

• Learns and engages in fundamentals of petroleum engineering.
• Actively participates in field training and other on-the-job learning opportunities specific to mature oil and gas production.
• Witnesses key operations and may practice operational functions with assistance or guidance from more experienced engineers or management.
• Consistently seeks opportunities to assist and learn from more experienced engineers.
• Supplements learning by studying petroleum-specific graphs charts and previous analyses.
• Assists in or observes all conventional aspects of engineering work.
• Assists in evaluating selecting and applying standard or well-defined petroleum engineering techniques procedures and criteria.
• Collaborates with the technical teams in the optimization and development of oilfield operations
• Works within established policies and procedures to help meet set schedules and system or program requirements.
• Observes the development of recommendations for moderately complex issues.
• Assists in the prioritization of preliminary adaptations and modifications.
• Complies with all the Companys Safety and Environmental policies practices and programs. Takes corrective action within training limitations. Escalates as necessary.
• Participates in and adheres to all training programs designed to enhance HSE knowledge safety standards and job performance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Certificates Licenses

• Currently pursuing a degree in petroleum engineering or other related engineering fields relevant to oil and gas production from an accredited institution.

Work Environment

• Primarily office work environment.
• Routine work involves common office activities during a typical 9-hour day such as standing sitting walking typing and twisting as necessary.
• May be required to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
• Must follow all company safety policies including when visiting field locations.

Compensation & Benefits

The pay range for this position is between $25.00 - $35.00 an hour based on a full-time schedule. This position is eligible for a relocation bonus 9/80 flex schedule sick & holiday pay.
