Title: Assistant Director Faculty Development

Job Description
This position plays a key role in Radford Universitys efforts to provide support for faculty in teaching scholarship and leadership. This position provides supervision of faculty development fellows training for scholarship of teaching and learning and management of faculty development communications. This position is involved in communicating with the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning and in other university departments developing and managing professional development programs designed to improve faculty teaching scholarship and leadership. This position reports to the Executive Director of Faculty Development.
Required Qualifications
-Considerable experience with instructional design preferably in higher education with an emphasis on design for online and alternate delivery methods.
-Experience teaching at the university level as an instructor of record
-Demonstrated expertise in research-based approaches to teaching and learning
-Demonstrated record of scholarship in teaching and learning
-Demonstrated successful course design development implementation and evaluation with a variety of instructional products.
-Demonstrated expertise in offering workshops in a variety of instructional methods (ex. hybridLMS)
-Independent action: needs to be able to take actions independently in conjunction with understanding the strategies goals financial constraints etc. of institutional stakeholders.
-Working experience with the design preparation and documentation of work plans and design documents. Ability to see the big picture and report progress accordingly.
-Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive organization topics and issues as well as maintain learner privacy.
Education/experience:
-Ph.D. or terminal degree in area associated with teaching and learning. Professional
experience in higher education instructional design or instructional technology.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience with the Desire2Learn learning environment.
-Experience with data analysis to inform programs and practices
-Experience developing and implementing new faculty development workshops certificates seminars and other initiatives.
-Excellent communication skills across a range of stakeholders including faculty members staff administrators students and external agencies.
-Experience with collaboration and documentation tools/platforms (ex. SharePoint Office365 OneNote Google Drive Slack).
-Experience with the Quality Matters orOLCquality assurance program for online courses
-Leadership in professional organizations for teaching and scholarship
-Evidence of expertise in written spoken and/or visual communication.
-Experience in supporting faculty and students in reflective practice.
