Job Description

Engagement Specialist

Location: Cleveland OH

Pay: $60000-$68000

This work is critical and can be challenging but we make it fun flexible and full of growth opportunity.

Our team of more than 200 professionals world-wide is looking for a leader to take on the role of Engagement Specialist in Cleveland OH. This is a unique opportunity to revitalize BBYO in a vibrant Jewish community with a long history of BBYO influence. BBYO has been the recipient of significant funding from the community to strengthen BBYO Chapters reach new teens and families solidify new and existing partnerships and build on programs that are historically unique and effective like BBYOs basketball league.

The overwhelming support of the local Jewish community and the close-knit nature of the communitys Jewish families the opportunity to grow BBYO in Cleveland is ready for the taking. Not only will this individual join BBYOs team of two in Cleveland to build community during the school year they will also have an opportunity to staff BBYOs summer camp programs and/or support a global travel experience. A prominent role may also be available based on skill and bandwidth to support BBYOs International Convention in February.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Work with BBYO chapter leaders particularly in AZA chapters to plan successful programs grow membership and engage in chapter best practices.
  • Ensure that region-wide programs (kick-offs weekend conventions basketball league) are well promoted compelling and safely executed.
  • Manage and run Cleveland BBYOs annual Basketball League including.
  • Build partnership and collaboration strategies with key Cleveland Jewish and non-Jewish agencies that elevate BBYOs brand (Cleveland Cavaliers etc.) and deliver compelling content (Jewish Education Center Shinshinim etc.).
  • Share BBYOs impact with the community by seeking audiences (parents of teens school administrators) and organizations (Mandel JCC Camp Wise) that can serve as membership pipelines.
  • Staff BBYO summer programs which may include working two to three weeks in a remote location.
  • Support BBYOs International Convention or other Movement-wide Initiatives as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate:

Our team has an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for innovation to drive positive change. This person should have an understanding of and experience in Jewish programming and community building be interested in being a part of a globally diverse organization willing to travel and interested in growing and developing their skills.

Education: Bachelors Degree or higheris required. Experience in social work human development psychology education or related fields is preferred.

Abilities:

  • Must reside in the Cleveland Ohio area.
  • Ability to travel as needed throughout the community and region attend BBYOs International Convention each February and to staff a summer leadership program at a location in the U.S. for 2-3 weeks each summer.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours (some nights and weekends)
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. without holding a visa or sponsorship.
  • To perform this job successfully the individual must be able to perform each essential duty/function with or without reasonable accommodation in accordance with applicable law.

Employee Expectations and Benefits:

BBYOs full-time employees in teen facing positions typically work evenings and over weekends. Therefore BBYO allows employees to set work schedules that maximize their time with teens (after school hours in many cases) while giving them time to pursue their own interests and wellbeing. BBYO offers PTO for staff following intensive multi-day events like regional and international conventions and summer camp and travel experiences. This is an exempt position meaning that it is not eligible for overtime. Additionally BBYO offers two weeklong closures during the year between Christmas and New Years as well as during the Passover holiday. There are approximately 18 days off to observe secular and religious holidays throughout the year.

In addition to salary compensation BBYO offers 403b and Roth retirement plans with an employer matching policy (4% with 4-year staggered vesting). In addition to a generous parental leave policy (at least 12 weeks paid) employees with children involved in BBYO are eligible for a $2000 credit per child toward BBYO programs each year their child or children are involved.
