Fab Lab Engagement Manager

Typical Work Schedule
Academic Year: Monday Thursday 8:00 a.m.5:00 p.m.; Friday 8:00 a.m.12:00 p.m.
Summer Hours: Monday Thursday 7:30 a.m.5:00 p.m. (Fridays off)
Note: Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for program events
Salary & Benefits
Salary Range: $40000-$50470 commensurate with education and experience
Comprehensive benefits package included
Position Summary
The Fab Lab Engagement Manager will work to promote and support Fab Lab ICC with local school districts the ICC campus community the community of Independence and beyond. The position will be familiar with goals outcomes and learning objectives for the different grade levels and utilize lessons that meet those objectives in a new waywith emphasis on applied learningfor educators using fabrication laboratory facilities. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of ICC FabLab equipment or have the capability to learn equipment through peer training.
This is a 12-month position. The Fab Lab Engagement Manager reports to the Senior Director for Industry and Employer Engagement.
Qualifications
Applicant must hold a bachelors degree with relevant experience.
Experience and demonstrated skill in planning programs and policies as well as in the development and evaluation of programs and policies.
Ability to keep up to date on current trends in STEM
Ability to market programs
Ability to act as an effective oral and written communicator and as a consensus-builder working to maintain collaborative working relationships
Be proactive; ability to work on own initiative
Must maintain current drivers license and have ability to drive school vehicles
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Align Kansas K-12 curriculum with ICC FabLab offerings for educator and student experiences.
- Lead learning sessions with K-12 students
- Develop and execute ICC FabLab events with the goals of broadening access and awareness of STEM topics and career pathways
- Create educational and engaging digital content highlight ICCs youth development focus
- Develop outreach programs coordinate user access to equipment and provide technical guidance and training to users of all skill levels
- Plan and assist with camps classes and other student events
- Communicate with local school districts regarding opportunities to utilize ICC FabLab in their STEM education.
- Market ICC FabLab offerings to local school districts and the broader community
- Assist ICC FabLab clients and members with projects
- Purchase and manage equipment and supplies for programming as needed
- Serve on various campus committees as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Independence Community College (ICC)is a two-year educational institution accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. It was established in 1925 as grades 13 and 14 of the Independencepublic school 1967 Independence Community College legally separated from the school district. Construction of the new community college on a 68 acre campus formerly the Independence Country Club began in 1969. Classes at the new site began in September 1970. ICC campus is now home to the Academic Building Fine Arts Building Student Union Cessna Learning Center Field House Administration BuildingWilliam Inge Center for the Artsfitness center athletic practice fields disc golf course 96-bed multi-structure living complex and a 200 bedresidence hall.
By renovating a donated building in 2010 we expanded our college to include ICC West (2615 West Main Street). This campus is located on the west side of Independence and is home to our technical programs: Allied Health Cosmetology and GED/ renovations were completed in 2012 to accomodate our newest program Veterinary Technology. This state-of-the-art facility includes animal wards a classroom lab surgery pharmacy prep roomsmall animal treatment food prep grooming and radiology.
ICC also maintains presence downtown through the ICC Foundation office and by partnering with the Independence Business Resource Center.
Currently our educational and support programming includes 35programs of studyfor Associates of Arts and/or Science degrees 11programs of study for Certificate completionStudent Support ServicesUpward Bound mens and womens athletic programs and a variety ofcampus organizations and activities.
