The Floating Operator (Floater) is a veteran employee who has demonstrated the ability aptitude and willingness to do many different jobs as the need arises. Floaters will primarily be considered assemblers until a need such as high demand or absenteeism in other areas dictate the need for their services. They must be able to reasonably perform the functions of the following classifications: Tester Machine Operator Packer Painter and Assembler. General descriptions of these classifications are shown below.Tester General Description:
Perform visual functional and quality tests on all oil and gas burners within the Wayne facility and document the testing of the product. Troubleshoot communicate and resolve issues discovered in the testing process. Performs in-process and visual inspection of product to identify possible problems in a burner assembly. Documents visual and functional testing of product.
Machine Operator General Description:
Operate metal fabrication and machining equipment for the purpose of making parts to be sold as is or used in assemblies that will be sold. Reads and interprets blueprints and manufactures parts accordingly. Maintain equipment and communicate problems with equipment or supply shortages in a timely manner.
Packer General Description:
Prepare and pack gas and oil burners for shipment to the customer. Visually inspect product for quality defects and proper assembly prior to packaging. Pack burners and any required documentation and/or accessories in individual carton or bulk pallet packaging taking care to ensure product arrives to customer in good condition. Work with shipping personnel to maximize efficiency and accuracy of product using the barcode serialization. Basic computer skills are required.
Painter General Description:
Clean and prepare surfaces to be painted and then apply liquid paint to these surfaces. Operate and maintain spray and paint booth equipment and parts washing equipment. Communicate problems with equipment or supply shortages in a timely manner. Identify visual quality defects in product before during and after paint process and make repairs and corrections as needed.
Assembly General Description:
Work as part of a team or as an individual responsible for assembling an entire product or component of a product. Assembly operators can perform all tasks conducted by the team in the assembly process and rotate through all or most tasks in an area rather than being assigned to a specific task on a permanent basis. Reads and interprets blueprints positions parts and examines connections for correct fit. Performs repairs as needed and reports errors during the assembly process.
