You will likely primarily focus on being that multiplier through effective 1:1s growth coaching and feedback though with a passion also for the technical and staying close to the detail.
At Mews youll lead a team of talented security engineers specialists helping Mews ensure a strong security posture and building and maintaining effective cloud and application security practices and automation. You will be working collaboratively with the wider business to accelerate and amplify how we maximise our security maturity and your team will be a source of enablement for our builder and platform teams in elevating that security.
Youll work as part of the engineering management team on initiatives spanning all of engineering at Mews from career progression to improving processes & ways of working and raising the technical bar across the organisation as we scale.
What youll do
Lead on Security Engineering for Mews alongside your team and help Mews build out a best in class cloud security posture and security automation capabilities.
Coach mentor and guide the professional technical & personal development of a small team of technologists.
Grow teams that are high-performing collaborative inclusive and respectful of each other.
Support your team and tribe in the growth of a better and more secure cloud presence for Mews and all of its products
Collect de-bias and synthesise regular high quality feedback addressing underperformance as well as recognising the individual strengths and contributions of your team members.
Support your team members whether on professional or pastoral matters.
Participate in broader technology & architecture discussions and partner with senior engineers on cross-tech initiatives that help us all level up.
Ensure were balancing building products in a healthy & sustainable way making high-impact products as well as shipping value regularly & rapidly.
Contribute to management best practices so that we can be an exceptional place to work for talented technologists.
About you
You love developing and growing people and care deeply about helping them both grow professionally and deliver brilliantly whilst avoiding burnout.
Youve likely helped security engineering teams mature and grow capabilities and are keen to help Mews do that at scale.
You believe in building both teams and effective security posture and response and balance that with rapid delivery of value.
You know how to help teams and individuals determine what is good enough for now and safe enough to try.
You enjoy getting to detail in the broader security space and can actively participate in helping us drive that forward.
You enjoy working in a collaborative environment and will leverage empathy and curiosity to work best with those teams you are providing value to.
You motivate and instil a strong sense of ownership in your team.
You are keen to help with our mission to transform the hospitality industry.
Youll enjoy your people management role and although your primary passion will be growing high-performing teams you will maintain that passion for remaining hands on
Nice to have:
Solid experience working in an agile development environment
Cloud engineering experience automating and optimising cloud usage
Experience of architecture modernisation (monolith decoupling)
