Job Description:
The Creative Media Specialist Position is the opportunity to join a group of professional staff and skilled student creatives to facilitate creative media and audiovisual work in the libraries. You should have an interest in creative practice and community building with a drive to learn new technologies techniques and teaching approaches to guide patrons in creative media projects and grow our offerings in Creative Media. As a generalist position in media a basic knowledge of audio/video/multimedia equipment and software is expected. The daily duties of a Creative Media Specialist are to maintain Creative Media equipment and spaces assist patrons using Creative Media studio equipment and spaces consult with patrons for creative project planning involving Creative Media and patron engagement tracking.
Responsibilities:
-Support patrons in the use of multimedia software and online platforms such as Abode CC (Photoshop Audition Premiere) iMovie GarageBand Audacity Movie Maker Kaltura.
-Help troubleshoot multimedia software and equipment related issues/questions posed by patrons.
-Process reservations for equipment and studio spaces.
-Maintain equipment and studio spaces via minor repairs and replacement of broken or missing parts.
-Develop and grow expertise in creative media.
-Create multimedia guides online tutorials and creative media promoting Creative Media equipment and services under the direction of the supervisor.
-Assist supervisor with events throughout the year such as workshops live streams and special projects.
Requirements:
-Ability to work independently and adhere to strict deadlines.
-Comfort with minor repair practices or willingness to learn.
-Training in multimedia and communications helpful.
-Proficiency in editing software programs or willingness to learn.
-General understanding of computers and digital equipment and interest in new and emerging technology.
-Ability to take and follow direction while also having a creative eye for improvements.
-Familiarity with task management software and Excel.
-Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
-Adhere to and ensure safety procedures and precautions are followed.
-Ability to comply with University policies.
