A Software Engineering Leader is responsible for driving team performance and ensuring the delivery of highquality software aligned with IFSs R&D Product Strategy. They play a pivotal role in establishing and refining processes that support efficient secure and reliable software development following the 7-Stages Development Process. By closely collaborating with Product and Program Management they articulate the What and Why to their teams creating a clear and purpose-driven plan for development efforts.
Maintaining smooth consistent development processes is a key responsibility with a focus on timely delivery quality and performance. These processes include but are not limited to automated testing at multiple levels code reviews security reviews and the evolution of the architecture. To ensure overall development efficiency a Software Engineering Leader prioritizes smooth workflows and collaboration across teams proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks. They partner with Quality Assurance Leader to embed quality into the planning and execution stages and maintain a right first time approach to software development. They also ensure close collaboration with the other R&D teams to deliver software that meets user expectations.
A Software Engineering Leader is accountable for fostering a high-performing team culture and is responsible for appraising their direct reports. They coach and develop team members providing them with challenging yet achievable goals to promote personal growth and career progression. They are proactive in addressing poor performance ensuring the well-being of both the individual and the team. Recruitment onboarding and continuous upskilling of team members are integral to their role as is building a resilient and adaptable team.
Building strong stakeholder relationships across IFS including with support teams is vital to this role. They aim to minimize R&D effort spent on support by delivering well-documented high-quality software and addressing escalations efficiently. Prompt engagement with Support Leaders allows them to identify concerns and take timely affirmative action to resolve issues.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with product/program managers to identify requirements
- Supports the Program Manager and the team to ensure realistic scoping planning and provide the right people with the right skills into the prototyping and validation stage.
- Works with team to initiate spikes PoCs scoping exercises assess risks and impact and support to escalate / resolve risks.
- Works with functional and technical design to ensure that specifications are ready to use by the team
- Promotes and drives optimization of our processes using such practices as Agile concepts DevSecOps Principles and initiatives driven from R&D.
- Handles ambiguity resolve impediments and eliminate waste in the team processes and practices.
- Enables teams with high trust culture and encourage decision making and experimenting with development practices.
- Helps team to achieve better predictability in scoping and velocity
- Ensures smooth execution in teams removing or managing impediments for development
- Facilitates retrospectives and reviews helping the team to identify and implement improvements
- Works with Leadership Team Product Management Program Management and other R&D leaders in the same domain in executing development plans
- Manages overall progress and ensures on-time delivery through resource planning forecasting and coordinating development execution across teams collaborating with Program Management and related R&D leaders as needed
- Manages and ensures employee related administrative systems are up to date
- Retains the right talent for the team and IFS by ensuring proper onboarding empowering team members with fair delegation of responsibilities and fostering a culture that drives engineering and service excellence
- Monitors inspires and evaluates team performance supporting career progression with upskilling salary discussions fair compensation and rewards
- Works with the QA leader to constantly drive quality throughout the entire development lifecycle to ensure quality assurance targets are met
- Drives adoption of modern engineering practices especially regarding testing with automation at the forefront of best QA practices
- Works to constantly drive improved test coverage of the components owned by the team.
- Constantly drives for identifying and taking preventive actions to improve quality e.g. completion of RCA activities

- Minimum of 3 - 5 years work experience

- Able to work / be available a couple hours a day that overlap with US Business Hours is a must.
