About the job:

The Curling Instructor is responsible for instructing classes and leading activities for the curling program. You will teach skills that are fundamental to the sport and promote an environment consistent with program philosophies curriculum and goals.


A day in the life:

Instructs participants in curling classes and leads activities ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.

Creates daily plans for classes and activities within established guidelines and curriculum.

Oversees the safety comfort and progress of participants.

Adapts activities as needed to meet the abilities and needs of individuals.

Prepares equipment materials and supplies required for conducting activities

Sets up takes down and cleans-up after class as required.

Completes required class records progress reports certificates etc.

Responds to accidents and incidents according to procedures.

Maintains the cleanliness of facilities and equipment.

Communicates effectively with the public including providing accurate information related to work assignment and responding to patron and parent questions and concerns.

Acts as a Mandatory Reporter; reports incidents of child abuse/neglect.


Work Schedule:

This is a part-time Winter seasonal position with an ideal start date of October 6.

  • Learn to Curl classes will be Fridays 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM (with additional time for set-up and tear-down) 10/24 - 12/26.
  • Two additional hours may be available weekly to provide support for the beginning group of our recreational curling league on Sundays between 3pm & 11pm (rotating league schedule).

Education Experience and Training:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent or currently attending high school; AND
  2. Must be at least 16 years of age; AND
  3. Some previous work training/certification or volunteer experience related to position; OR
  4. Any satisfactory combination of education experience and training.


Certification:

First Aid/CPR - preferred


Supervision Received:

Work under the general supervision of Program Supervisor. Receive routine (daily/weekly) direction from Program Supervisor.


Supervision Exercised:

Supervision is not a responsibility of this position; however position may provide direction over Recreation 1s and volunteers.
