Student WorkerJob Description
The Student Hourly Assistant TV News Segment Producer under general supervision will be responsible for curating news segments for the Panther News Network. Segment Producers will work with researchers writers and reporters to make such news packages are filmed edited and packaged for broadcast.
Responsibilities:
- Assign news package assignments to reporters.
- Assign special interest segments to reports and anchors.
- Assist the News Director in administrative duties (take daily roll for crew and talent).
- Direct the daily news broadcast.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
- Presently enrolled for at least nine (9) graduate or six (6) undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done.
- Must be in academic good standing (SAP) as demonstrated through your college; minimum 2.0 GPA
- No prior experience necessary
- For work eligibility during a summer term a student must be enrolled for at least six (6) graduate or undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done or preregistered at least six (6) undergraduate semester hours or nine (9) graduate semester hours for the upcoming fall term.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Communications Major
- Junior or Senior classification
- News room production experience
Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Exceptional writing skills
- Ability to supervise news team members interns and volunteers
