About this Job


This vacancy is located in the Office of Motor Vehicles PTA administrationOffice located in Jefferson Parish.

This position is within PTA administration and provides oversight of PTA offices domiciled within Region 3.

Minimum Qualifications

Four years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been in the administration or enforcement of state drivers license or motor vehicle laws:

Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent plus six years of experience in any field.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the general experience.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
May be required to possess a current Louisiana drivers license at the time of appointment.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:


  • Composes and monitors correspondence with prospective and contracted public tag agents and auto title companies.

  • Examines documentation to determine the eligibility of entities requesting to operate as public tag agents and auto title companies. Prepares initial issuance and renewal applications and is responsible for making modifications as deemed necessary.

  • Engages in an active and integral role in the legislative process. Analyzes and interprets bills files. Prepares fiscal and economic impact statements and makes recommendations for revisions to proposed legislation and/or related laws as applicable. Interacts with the Legislative Fiscal Office to compute the effect of proposed legislation on state revenues and expenditures. Serves as technical advisor to the Commissioner attends legislative committee hearings and testifies before same as directed. Responds to requests for technical and statistical information regarding Office of Motor Vehicle operations and statutes. Contacts legislators committee staff members and private industry/organizations as needed. Analyzes and directs implementation of new legislation enacted during legislative sessions.

  • Participates in development planning and monitoring of the operational budget for the Office of Motor Vehicles including formulation and maintenance of the agencys Strategic Plan. Coordinates the gathering of budget needs and provides statistical information to support budget requests and monitors spending.

  • Represents the Department on Committees and attends meetings on local state and federal level for related programs and functions. Attends State and Regional American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) conferences and workshops to keep abreast of latest trends and objectives as they pertain to the Office of Motor Vehicles particularly in the area of the Commercial Drivers License program and the National Driver Registry and drivers license issuance in general. Attends insurance meetings/conventions to discuss regulations reporting etc. Works closely with the Department of Insurance and Insurance Industry. when required.

  • Performs compliance reviews of files as well as prepares reports of findings. Initiates corrective action and makes adjustments as needed.

Appointment Type:This position will be filled as apromotional classified position.
