Business Unit Overview:
The Institutional Client Business develops and maintains relationships with institutional investors including public and private pension plans insurance companies official institutions family offices and industry consultants. The business objective is to be a trusted partner to clients with a strategic approach that draws on the full spectrum of the BlackRock platform of capabilities. With a local footprint and offices in Milan the Italian Institutional Client Business (Italian ICB) is responsible for managing and growing the book of business in Italy with the institutional client segment. The business work in close partnership with stakeholders across the BlackRock platform to orchestrate and deliver relevant thought leadership and investment strategies to meet client needs.
Role Purpose/Background:
This role carries the responsibility to lead the Italian ICB business. The role also includes the responsibility to be a member of the Italian Leadership Team that manages the business as well as to be a member of the Institutional Client Business in Europe that has the responsibility for leading BlackRocks business with institutional clients across Europe.
A key objective of the role is to set and execute on BlackRocks strategy for the institutional client segment in Italy and to lead the team to proactively expand BlackRocks footprint across the institutional client segment and specifically take responsibility for the acquisition of new clients and for broadening existing client relationships by ensuring a consistent delivery of high quality and seamless service execution. The team works in close co-operation with the local on the ground stakeholders such as the representatives for ETF team and the Alternative specialist sales team as well as Aladdin Business Development team as well as with a multitude of investment and strategy teams in different locations.
The role is to be located in Milan.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership of the Italian Institutional Client Business as well as direct client coverage with focus on senior/C-level client stakeholders
All aspects of strategic leadership including refining and further developing the vision for the business and ensuring an integrated client experience as well as business and people management
Driving the planning and budgeting activities for the business monitoring of performance vis a vis target to deliver growth
Work in close cooperation with ICB European peers to manage and deliver growth for the European business
Contributing to the firms European and global business strategy with the overarching agenda of growing both the overall business
Leading and motivating a high calibre team
Foster a culture of passion and collaboration and a focus on meeting clients needs by utilizing the full breadth of BlackRock capabilities
Cultivate constructive dialogue and cooperation with ICB team members and the relevant range of investment specialists and strategy teams globally
Ensure periodic review of product and service offering e.g. proposing new products or client solutions
Ensuring familiarity with industry regulatory and market developments
Knowledge/Experience:
Strong existing client network with social security agencies and traditional pension funds and direct relationship with C-level clients representatives in those markets
Cross asset class experience with a deep understanding of private markets segregated mandates and ETF
A deep understanding of the institutional client segment across Italy its regulatory framework investment industry and competitive landscape
Experience from working in a multi-national matrix organization is preferred
Previous experience in international investment banks or international strategic consulting firm is nice to have

The role will require travel in Italy as well as internationally
