The Role & The Team
As a Senior Engineering Specialist you will provide specialist engineering expertise for system management and projects in support of Airservices National Technical Monitoring System (i.e. a SCADA system) and other high reliability safety critical systems and technologies. You will be responsible for maintaining system performance and reliability in accordance with Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Regulation 171 while actively supporting your team by offering expert engineering oversight and guidance.
Accountabilities and responsibilities of this role will see you:
- Investigate manage and implement corrections enhancements and upgrades on supported systems
- Prepare system engineering support and maintenance documentation policies and standards
- Develop proposals and estimates for system changes and improvements and control system configurations
- Support field maintenance staff in deploying system changes and resolving system issues
- Participate in projects and lead the creation of project engineering artefacts
You will be part of a high performing team and play a critical role in supporting the Team Lead in meeting business objectives whilst providing ongoing training coaching and mentoring to technical and engineering staff. You will liaise closely with stakeholders across the organisation and externally including maintenance centres asset managers project managers safety specialists system users support contractors and suppliers.

Position Description - Senior Systems
The Person
The successful applicant will have:
- An Electronics Electrical Telecommunications Information Technology or similar engineering degree or certified equivalent international qualification that provides eligibility for registration as a professional engineer under applicable state or territory legislation (e.g. Board of Professional Engineers Queensland)
- PLC SCADA RTU/Telemetry IT/OT networking systems and protocols experience (Modbus BACnet SNMP) is essential
- Demonstrated experience integrating legacy systems
- Project Management leading technical projects and vendor performance management experience would be desirable
- Experience in a highly regulated working environment desirable
- Good practical understanding of electronic and electrical circuits
- Experience in providing system support including investigation management and resolution of complex issues
- A good understanding of computer networks and protocols including RS232/422 interfaces
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to write high quality technical and non-technical documents reports and procedures for a range of audiences
