What Is The Opportunity
The Senior Manager GIS and Field Technology leads the deployment and integration of geospatial and digital field construction technologies across Aecons Urban Transportation Solutions (UTS) and Civil sectors. This role ensures alignment with Aecons IDD Framework supports project execution through GIS BIM and CDE platforms and drives innovation in spatial data management construction simulation and digital twin development.
What Youll Do Here:
Geospatial Strategy & GIS Management:
Lead GIS strategy and implementation across UTS and Civil projects including mapping of utilities environmental constraints and survey data (LiDAR topography).
Manage the IDD Geohub and Esri platforms for spatial data visualization and integration with BIM and CAD models.
Oversee georeferencing and publishing of project drawings and basemaps to ACC Sheets and GIS hubs.
Field Technology Execution IDD WORKPACKS:
Create and manage digital field work packages to support seamless execution of on-site activities.
Leverage ACC Build Esri Field Work and mobile tools for daily reporting field inspections and quality tracking.
Integrate 3D models with field tools to visualize progress track installation status and support asset tagging for handover.
Coordinate redlining issue resolution and field changes directly within the digital environment.
Support prefabrication workflows by linking design models to fabrication and installation packages.
Ensure traceability of field activities through connected data environments to support progressive as-built modeling.
Data Governance & Reporting:
Ensure data accuracy security and interoperability across platforms.
Support dashboard development for progress monitoring earned value analysis and quantity tracking.
Collaborate with SAP and Business Objects teams to align financial and spatial data.
Stakeholder Engagement & Team Leadership:
Mentor GIS specialists digital coordinators and modelers across UTS and Civil teams.
Liaise with clients consultants and JV partners to align digital delivery expectations.
Represent Aecon at industry forums and support R&D partnerships with academic institutions.
Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity welcome different perspectives and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.
What You Bring to The Team:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Geomatics Civil Engineering Geospatial Science or related field.
Certifications such as GISP PMP and Esri Technical Certifications preferred.
10 years in GIS or Field Technology systems.
5 years in a leadership role within infrastructure or transit projects.
Proficiency in Esri GIS Mobile technology.
Experience with remote sensing LiDAR UAVs and AI-based geospatial analytics.
Strong understanding of construction workflows digital twin technology and IoT integration.
Strategic thinker with strong planning and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organizational change.
