Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY

Since PAXLOVIDs emergency use authorization on 12/22/21 PAXLOVID has treated approximately 24M US patients at high-risk from progression to severe COVID-19 which can lead to hospitalization and/or death. Now FDA approved and commercialized in the U.S. this novel protease inhibitor remains the gold standard in COVID-19 treatment. Today there is an opportunity to increase treatment rates for eligible patients and bolster PAXLOVIDs leadership position in the marketplace via new clinical data real-world data and label indications. A new indirect competitor to PAXLOVID is expected in the COVID-19 Oral Antiviral market in 2026 and Pfizer must continue to demonstrate PAXLOVIDs benefits to patients. Lastly Pfizer has a nextgen COVID-19 antiviral molecule in Phase3 clinical trials and pending clinical data could be an important piece to maintain long-term leadership in this space.

The US Antiviral Market Shaping Director will be a critical contributor to the Antiviral team and will report to the Antiviral Market Shaping Team Lead. This role is responsible for leading the COVID-19 burden of disease (BoD) strategy for the Antiviral team including messaging piece development and supporting pull-through across the team using compelling real-world data. Additionally this role will be responsible for monitoring the competitive environment and conceiving proactive and reactive strategies tactics and initiatives to retain Pfizer antiviral market leadership. The role will require the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and requires the ability to identify and understand multiple forms of clinical data and competitor trends in the market. The role willdevelop insights and create a commercial narrative utilizing real-world data to activate HCPs and consumers. The candidate will join a team that operates in an environment that embraces and encourages innovative ideas and creates a culture of collaboration and teamwork.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Real World Data: Burden of Disease (BoD)
    • Own and manage the COVID-19 BoD strategy and coordinate pull-through for the US Antiviral team staying connected to Global and other stakeholders
    • Monitor stream of external publications related to COVID-19 and PAXLOVID and help identify items for potential use in US marketing
    • Develop compelling BoD messaging based on data points on COVID-19 patient impact (e.g. hospitalizations deaths ED visits) from CDC and other reporting data sources
    • Utilize market research and other testing to determine impact and viability of BoD messaging
    • Refresh existing COVID-19 BoD core pieces where possible with more recent publications and evidence
    • Identify publications that could allow for new health conditions to be added to overall COVID-19 BoD marketing
    • Close partnership with RC and BURC to develop novel and compliant messaging approaches
    • Develop review approve and launch core marketing pieces
    • Partner with the US HCP Consumer and Access subteams to support integration across marketing materials and tactics

  • Antiviral Competitive Intelligence and Strategy
    • Lead US competitive intelligence for our COVID-19 Antiviral portfolio partnering cross-functionally and with Global
    • Responsible for gathering intelligence for existing and potential future competitors to our antivirals
    • Manage ongoing communication platform to align US colleagues and leadership regarding actual and future events in this space
    • Using knowledge and tracking of competitors conceive proactive and reactive strategies tactics and initiatives to retain Pfizer antiviral market leadership and competitive advantage and support pull-through with US HCP Consumer and Access subteams

  • PAXLOVID Label Update Coordination & Lifecycle
    • Work with cross-functional team to identify and monitor expected label updates to PAXLOVID
    • Coordinate label update timelines with US brand team
    • Support efficient update plan to marketing material for label changes meeting compliance requirements while avoiding unnecessary effort and spend

  • Ibuzatrelvir Market Shaping
    • Ibuzatrelvir is Pfizers next generation COVID-19 Antiviral in Phase 3 clinical trials potentially launching in the US in 2028
    • Pending clinical trial progress in 2H-2026 this role likely would begin supporting and pulling-through pre-launch market-shaping activities as we move closer to this future launch

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree required
  • 8 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in consulting sales marketing operations or analytical roles
  • Recent pharmaceutical marketing experience and specifically strong experience of Pfizers marketing processes and systems including agency oversight and the RC forum
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated initiative strategic thinking and creativity
  • Experience successfully converting market and stakeholder insights into actionable strategies and tactics
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and navigate within a complex organizational matrix achieving results through others across functions geographies and a variety of personality styles
  • A commitment to excellence both in the results achieved and in how they are achieved

  • US marketing experience

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $169700.00 to $282900.00. In addition this position is eligible for participation in Pfizers Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
