Job Description
Join Thermo Fisher Scientific Franklin MA as a Purification Engineer II and help drive innovation in Single Use technology for bioprocessing and bio-pharmaceuticals with a dedicated R&D team.
Responsibilities
- Plan and Conduct Experiments: Support in planning and independently complete experimental studies with the mentorship of senior team members applying established Design of Experiments techniques.
- Collaborate on Results Analysis: Work with team members to assist in analyzing experimental results and contribute to discussions on technical conclusions.
- Test Membrane Products: Conduct testing on membrane products to determine their operating envelope and anticipated performance in real-world use following standardized procedures.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and coordinate experimental data perform basic data analysis and assist in drawing preliminary conclusions about product performance or design.
- Support Product Development: Contribute to the development of new product approaches by providing accurate data and observations to address customer needs and make valuable contributions.
- Technical Support and Communication: Provide technical support in a problem-solving environment involving sales and marketing personnel process engineers scientists the manufacturing team and customers.
- Documentation and Reporting: Document experimental procedures and results accurately. Assist in preparing reports and presentations for internal meetings and external forums.
- Present Scientific Results: Effectively communicate scientific findings to a diverse audience using data analysis and visualizations with the support of experienced team members.
- Manage inventory of raw materials spare parts intermediate and finished products.
- Contribute to lab management by supporting EHS leadership for safe operations equipment maintenance 5S lab audit preparation and action follow-up lab postings and regular equipment checks.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in an engineering technical or science-related field required.
- 1 years experience in material characterization bioprocess downstream purification filtration application.
- Polymer-related coursework or certificates.
- Strong knowledge of the English language including grammar and composition.
- Ability to adapt quickly and work independently while remaining a great teammate.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to foster effective cross-functional relations and translate complex concepts clearly.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Demonstrated hands-on experimental work history preferably in a pilot or manufacturing environment.
- Foster an open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility building strong working relationships with collaborators and customers.
- Proficiency in project management is required.
- Sense of urgency and personal integrity.
- Customer support orientation.
