Departments Department of Electrical Engineering

Eindhoven University of Technology is an internationally top-ranking university in the Netherlands that combines scientific curiosity with a hands-on attitude. Our spirit of collaboration translates into an open culture and a top-five position in collaborating with advanced industries. Fundamental knowledge enables us to design solutions for the highly complex problems of today and tomorrow.

The mission of the Department of Electrical Engineering is to acquire share and transfer knowledge and understanding in the whole field of Electrical Engineering through education research and valorization. We work towards a Smart Sustainable Society a Connected World and a healthy humanity (Care & Cure). Activities share an application-oriented character a high degree of complexity and a large synergy between multiple facets of the field.

Research is carried out into the applications of electromagnetic phenomena in all forms of energy conversion telecommunication and electrical signal processing. Existing and new electrical components and systems are analyzed designed and built. The Electrical Engineering department takes its inspiration from contacts with high-tech industry in the direct surrounding region and beyond.

The department is innovative and has international ambitions and partnerships. The result is a challenging and inspiring setting in which socially relevant issues are addressed.

Short introduction

Are you a motivated researcher with a strong background in power electronics or power devices We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join our research team in an ambitious 2-year project. Youll be part of an excellent team at the Electromechanics and Power Electronics (EPE) Group at the Department of Electrical Engineering.

Job Description

Power electronics converters are systems that process electric power in various applications including renewable energy generation high-tech systems electric vehicles industrial automation and more. At EPE Group we are building a strong research line on the reliability and resilience of power electronics systems. The innovation of power devices is one of the driving forces behind the advancement of power electronics systems. As typical wide-bandgap power devices SiC MOSFETs are gaining popularity in various applications and the technology continues to evolve. The new devices always require a strict reliability assessment before they can be deployed in mission-critical applications.

Your project focuses on the reliability of next-generation SiC MOSFETs. This research is part of a collaborative Horizon Europe initiative involving leading industrial partners and academic institutions across the EU. The focus of your work will be on reliability analysis and diagnostics of medium-voltage SiC MOSFETs including the development of advanced test platforms for device and packaging evaluation. Key responsibilities include conducting lifetime modeling developing advanced condition monitoring techniques and applying data-driven analytics for lifetime prediction. You will play a central role in integrating experimental insights with modeling approaches to support robust long-term performance of SiC devices. You will work closely with industrial and academic partners and presenting your findings and ideas to the scientific community is an essential part of your work. Additionally you are expected to contribute to education at TU/e as part of your job responsibilities.
