DescriptionOptimal on behalf of its client a well-established firm in the marine industry is looking for a Strategic Procurement Director (Marine Lubricants & Bunkers).
Responsibilities:
- Design develop and execute the Groups procurement strategy ensuring alignment with commercial objectives and financial targets while fostering long-term strategic partnerships with key global suppliers
- Develop and implement risk mitigation plans to proactively identify and address potential threats including quality issues supply shortages and geopolitical challenges
- Represent the Group in high-stakes negotiations and forums using strong influencing and lobbying skills to secure the best possible commercial terms
- Lead comprehensive market research and supplier performance assessments driving data-driven decisions by analyzing pricing credit terms logistics and suppliers capacity for innovation
- Drive the digital transformation of the procurement function by promoting the use of AI data analytics and other digital tools to enhance efficiency transparency and decision-making
- Act as a strategic advisor to the management team on matters concerning procurement market intelligence and global supply chain trends
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management with a proven track record within the marine lubricants and/or bunkers industry
- University degree in Business Administration Supply Chain or a related field. An MSc or MBA will be considered a plus
- Solid understanding of global market dynamics and risk management
- Excellent analytical skills
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills with the confidence to represent the Group at C-level with partners authorities etc
- Proficiency in English and MS Office
- Ability to understand and apply digital and AI technologies to modernize procurement operations
