Job Description

The Capital Project Engineering (CPE) group within Roadway Capital Program Management (RCPM) subdivision is currently seeking two seasoned Project managers to assist the group directors in carrying out their supervisory arid project management roles regarding the Street Reconstruction Capital Program. RCPM is responsible for planning the Citys capital roadway program within the project funding margins and coordinating the implementation of projects with the New York City Department of Design and Construction (NYC DDC). NYC DDC manages
the design and construction of roadway reconstruction projects on NYC DOTs behalf. There are three teams of engineers within the CPE group. They oversee the $5 billion 10-year street reconstruction program that includes multiple Mayoral priority infrastructure projects including Vision Zero the plan to reduce traffic fatalities; PlaNYC the citys plan to improve sustainability; pedestrian space and plaza projects to enhance the public realm and other initiatives. The Assistant Director should be able to exercise independent judgment while developing project scopes of work or reviewing scopes of work and designs developed by consultants take a leadership role in guiding the junior engineers with devising project objectives cost estimate preparation contract payments processing and addressing Q&A from auditors. The Assistant Director will need to actively collaborate with other divisions within NYC DOT with other City agencies and with outside consultants. The Assistant Director will assist upper management in addressing public inquiries and concerns related to city roadway infrastructure conditions reconstruction and development plans. The Assistant Director should expect to receive some supervisory responsibilities and must show interest in developing management and leadership the absence of the Director the Assistant Director will assume his/her responsibilities.

ASSOCIATE PROJECT MANAGER LIST OR BE ELIGIBLE UNDER THE 55A PROGRAM.*

Qualifications :

One year of full-time satisfactory experience in supervising employees performing project management work such as planning administering managing coordinating or expediting on engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural projects or supervising a construction project with a value of $or more and either:

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in engineering engineering technology architecture landscape architecture architectural technology construction construction management construction technology sustainable design urban planning urban studies city planning transportation planning business administration or public administration and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in project management work such as planning administering managing coordinating or expediting for engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural projects; or

2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of experience as described in 1 above; or

3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus any combination of college or university education and/or experience described in 1 above to make up the equivalent of five years of education and experience. One year of experience credit will be given for: (a) each 30 semester credits of college or university education leading to a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in engineering engineering technology architecture landscape architecture architectural technology construction construction management construction technology sustainable design urban planning urban studies city planning transportation planning business administration or public administration; (b) a Masters degree from an accredited college or university in one of the disciplines described in 1 above; (c) a Juris Doctor degree or (d) a valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer Registered Architect or Registered Landscape Architect. Where experience which is primarily of a design nature is not acceptable towards meeting the qualification requirements.

In addition to meeting the qualification requirements for Assignment Level I candidates must have at least one additional year of experience as described in 1 above in a supervisory capacity or have served for at least one year as a project manager for a large and/or complex construction project.
