Job Summary

Were on the lookout for a Claims Specialist (12-Month Fixed Term) whos ready to take ownership of how we handle improve and future-proof our claims processes.

This is your chance to combine project leadership with hands-on problem solving transforming workflows introducing smarter tools and making a real impact on how the business operates over the next year.

In this role you will:

  • Review and redesign end-to-end claims processes to improve efficiency accuracy and system integration.
  • Implement fit-for-purpose digital tools to enhance claims processing visibility and reporting.
  • Manage and resolve claims in line with company policies SLAs and financial guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records in the Claims Database and finance systems.
  • Liaise with insurers for claims exceeding company excess thresholds ensuring documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Investigate claim causes with Operations and recommend preventative measures.
  • Prepare monthly claims accruals for Finance and ensure alignment with month-end reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to automate streamline and standardise claims workflows.
  • Analyse claims data to identify patterns cost drivers and root causes and provide actionable insights.
  • Develop training materials and support resources to embed new systems and processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Finance Operations Customer Services and external providers.
  • Support forecasting and budgeting by providing accurate claims liability projections.

Qualifications :

Were looking for someone who can blend practical problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset. Youll be comfortable working with data processes and people and just as capable of rolling up your sleeves for the detail as you are at driving big-picture improvements. A collaborative approach resilience in a fast-moving environment and the ability to deliver results over a 12-month fixed term will set you apart.

Essential:

  • NCEA Level 3 and/or relevant tertiary certificate/diploma in finance process improvement or a related discipline.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (especially Outlook and Excel) with high accuracy and speed.
  • Experience in a similar role within warehousing distribution or transport.
  • Proven ability to spot opportunities design solutions and implement process improvements.
  • Solid understanding of financial processes reconciliations and reporting.

Preferred:

  • A data-driven mindset with the ability to translate analysis into clear actionable insights.
  • Familiarity with claims handling in logistics or cold chain environments.

Youll thrive in this role if you:

  • Enjoy working with data but also value the human side of collaboration.
  • Have a curious mind a problem-solving nature and the drive to see improvements through from idea to implementation.
