Job Description
Were looking for an experienced Principal Software Engineer who thrives on solving complex technical challenges and influencing long-term technical direction. You will play a critical role in shaping our architectural landscape elevating engineering standards and mentoring our next generation of technical leaders.
The Backend Framework and Dev Tools team at IFS is responsible for building high-impact reusable tools and services that empower IFS developers partners and customers to create and tailor business applications with speed and confidence.
As a Principal Engineer you will not only write high-quality code but also serve as a strategic thought partner collaborating closely with architects senior engineers and product owners to guide our platforms technical evolution. Youll help us scale our systems optimize performance and ensure our solutions meet enterprise-grade standards for reliability security and maintainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the design and evolution of critical platform components within the IFS middleware stack.
- Lead architectural discussions reviews and decisions across multiple teams and initiatives.
- Set technical direction coding standards and best practices in collaboration with other senior engineers and architects.
- Mentor and support engineers across teams helping to upskill them on design principles coding practices and debugging strategies.
- Drive initiatives to improve code quality test coverage performance and developer productivity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on product design system integration and delivery strategy.
- Act as a technical bridge between product goals and scalable maintainable engineering solutions.
Qualifications :
- A degree in Software Engineering Computer Science or a related field.
- 8 years of experience in backend development preferably with Java or related enterprise-grade languages.
- Proven experience leading the technical design and implementation of complex distributed systems.
- Solid understanding of software architecture microservices messaging systems and API design.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate and navigate technical trade-offs.
- Experience with DevOps practices CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-native development (Azure AWS or similar).
- Familiarity with front-end technologies and how they integrate into full-stack platforms is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
